We were so delighted to hear that BBC1's 'Time' won the BAFTA for this year's Best Mini-series, and that Stephen Graham and Sean Bean's superb character portrayals were also both nominated for Best Leading Actor in the same drama - with Sean just pipping Stephen at the post.
We recorded extensive ADR for this series with Stephen, and with his lovely and fantastically talented real-life and on-screen wife Hannah Walters.
Given the intimate and vulnerable performances we were privileged to capture from each of them, it's fair to say that we were emotionally invested in this year's BAFTAs! Not only keeping our fingers crossed for the programme and for Stephen's nominations, but also because significantly, it was the last ADR recorded at The Audio Suite's much-loved Cherry Blossom studios, before our move to bigger studios in the centre of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. (Happily, Stephen remains a regular visitor to the new studios, seemingly being one of the most in-demand actors around!)

With prices for everything going crazy at the moment - such as energy costs rising by 54%, with a FURTHER rise due in October, and inflation running at 8% - it's been a time of some really deep thinking by the management team at The Audio Suite; and we've decided that after 7 years without a price increase, that... We're maintaining our studio recording fees for VO, TV Commentary Records and ADR!
It's our way of making a stand and not adding fuel to the fire of inflation that our clients are suddenly facing; and it's also a gamble that people who understand the difference between 'cost' and 'value' will see us as even GREATER value, and we'll see an increase in enquiries. It really would be great to work for some local companies, as well as welcoming our regular major clients such at Warner Bros., Universal and Netflix.

'It was 20 years ago today...' that The Audio Suite issued it's first invoice to a paying customer. It's been a remarkable ride for me both personally and professionally, and it's also very much been a team effort. Every one of our 745 (and counting) IMDb credits tells their own, beautiful story but it's all centred around one man's passion for excellence in sound, and then being fortunate to surround himself with similarly minded and uniquely talented colleagues. Thank you to everyone who has ever used our services... And rest easy, because 'We ain't done yet!'

The companion website for my book 'Sound for Moving Pictures' (www.soundformovingpictures.com) has a new forum area, something that I've called our 'Family' space (as I want to foster a collective connected by a love for, or an interest in, sound and sound design in its widest sense).
And I feel privileged at the forum's launch to be able to offer a series of 5 fascinating essays on contemporary sound design topics from Dr. Iain McGregor; the Online Sound Design MSc Programme Leader at Edinburgh Napier University.
His entertaining and absorbing articles are free to read, but I'd love for you to become a part of our 'family' by registering (that's free, too), which will allow you to post comments...

What an absolute pleasure and privilege it has been to judge Best Score and Best Soundtrack for this year's Birmingham Film Festival. Having narrowed it down to 8 and 9 entries respectively, the winners have been chosen - and tremendous examples of the craft they are, too!
