Assembling the bedding plants which will be put on the balustrade of the decking. These planters were sponsored by Hideaway Nursery, while other have been donated by Pat and Colin King. We hope Colin ( green fingers) King might work his magic with the plants in the coming days to create a show of colour during the summer.

Easter has seen lots of activity at Bodiam Station, trains full of parents and children. Easter Egg hunt around the station area along with Scotty’s Circus Workshop. Essentially put on for the benefit of children the free circus skills workshop has attracted many adults who must have missed out when they were younger ?

Welcome to John and Gilda Gardner, our first guests of the 2024 season, after which we are almost fully booked until September ! ( just a few days spare in July and August if anybody is interested ? )

John and Gilda report : “ When we opened the door, we were pleasantly surprised by how warm and comfortable the Coach really was, it’s far better than the pictures suggest ! “

Despite the cold and wet weather John and Gilda clearly enjoyed their experience and invited family and friends to visit them to take advantage of the quirky setting. John and Gilda are planning to visit again later in the year as we still have vacancies in September and October when the weather is a lot warmer than March ! Spring Cleaning The Bodiam Coach.

Twelve man and woman hours invested in total clean today. Many thanks for all the hard work from Rachel and Emma our dynamic Domestic Team !

Don’t feel you are missing out just because your not the first guests in this weekend. As the Coach get cleaned twice a week throughout the season, the irony is the Coach becomes even more cleaner and fresher by the autumn. If you don’t believe this nonsense idea, come and test it out. Pressure washing the 80 foot decking, only took six hours!

Diesel Gala - MORE exciting news !
We are thrilled to be working with Shepherd Neame for the Diesel Gala Beerex Train on Friday 12th April.
The Shepherd Neame Beerex train will be double headed by D8568 and 37714 to Bodiam and returning under the power of Class 37 37714 with D8568 Rolling behind. The Beerex special service is modelled on the K&ESR’s popular Real Ale & Cider trains.
The band will be playing from 6.00pm until the Beerex train departs from Tenterden Town Station at 7.00pm. It travels through the Rother Valley to station at Bodiam, before returning to Tenterden at 10pm, In time for a vintage bus link to Headcorn station, giving you plenty of time to sample the on board selection of real ales and non alcoholic options.
One day Freedom & Beerex tickets are valid for unlimited travel throughout Friday AND the evening Beerex train
Adult ticket: £34.50 in advance online, £38.50 on the day
3 day Freedom & Beerex tickets are valid for unlimited travel throughout the whole weekend AND the evening Beerex train on Friday evening

“Digger” Richards continues his assault of Bodiam. This time land drains in the garden to ensure dry and stable ground for car parking and events.
The ground had become so water logged that dry access to The Bodiam Coach was becoming a challenge. The work will be completed this week and we would expect our first guest in mid March to notice the benefits

Bad news River Rother has burst its bank due to heavy rain.
Good news Bodiam Coach and Station well above water level. Experience tells us this water will drain away quickly once the rain stops ! 😂

Bodiam sewage upgrade continues in order to be fully environmentally compliant. Digger Richards busy at the controls. A case of one man digs a hole and several others spend their time looking in to it . A good job done by all, more to follow.

Bodiam crossing, then and now. Amongst the differences that can be seen is the absence of the hop garden and its wire work. Most of the fields surrounding Bodiam Station were full of hop gardens until the 1970’s.
