Day 4 in Norway and we’ve finally got sights of the Northern Lights🔮

As we voyage further and further north, we’re not far from the Arctic circle now. Jamie is our Aurora expert on this trip and he’s been tracking it all and finally we got the first sights of it tonight.

Tomorrow we’ll be reunited as a full group as we cross over to the Lofoten Islands to explore the beauty they behold!

Camping by a huge lake tonight which we’ve arrive at in the dark so looking forward to views waking up tomorrow.

Day 7 concludes our Corsica trip😭

Continuing along the north coast on some fantastic tracks, we then hit the road to take the coastal road up to the mountains. This was our final off-road track going up and over before dropping us down on the other side near our homeward ferry.

Nearly having a last minute disaster, near the final trails peak, the track collapsed one side whilst crossing and nearly swallowed my Amarok (photos/videos will come later) - however, managing to back out of it with help of some traction boards and a firm line from the D2 to stabilise it, we managed to find a way around.

In future Corsica will be 10 days to include rest and activity days, but for now this trip has come to an end and it’s time to head home.

This magical island has been incredible, even at this time of year when it’s very much out of season and colder than usual. We’ve been so lucky with the weather, averaging 17’c degrees everyday and the rain stayed at bay.

The locals here genuinely all seemed so happy to see us and went above and beyond to help us. Already looking forward to returning back here next time where we’ll be venturing Sardinia too!🇮🇹

Day 5/6 in Corsica has been incredible.

Day 5 was a rest day which was well deserved as we’ve done some serious miles and long days tracking these trails without having any time out yet.

We spent the last two nights in a hotel and explored the local northern towns consuming some wonderful food as we went. Today we’ve trekked back up into the mountains (stopping to stroke all the dogs of course) covering a huge amount of ground and gaining a serious amount of altitude in the process, but with our luck running out with the weather here since arriving, we’ve experienced very high winds today but soldiered on regardless.

Rocky Mountain passes with incredibly steep descents, reaching as much as 20 degrees down hill at one point on very loose surfaces meant slow and controlled was key here.

All the cars have been faultless so far, we later led down across the ‘desert’ to a very inaccessible beach which was beautiful. They’ve repurposed some old thatch roofed huts here for hikers and travellers to use for sleeping, providing very basic wooden bunks with no mattresses but if you’re travelling light it’s better than being out in the elements.

We decided to skip them and find quite a remote campsite further away from the coast to keep out of the wind. Tomorrow we head towards Bastia for our last day on this beautiful island and catch our crossing tomorrow evening.

Day 4 in Corsica and things just get better and better…

We spent New Years with some fellow overlanders from Germany down on the beach and it was such a spontaneous evening enjoyed by all.

After a lazy new years morning start, we made great progress heading back into the mountains and onto some more epic offroad tracks! Some very very steep climbs with struggle for traction all the way up, this led us up to 4300ft and the views were incredible!

Coming down the other side proved a very challenging track which was quite tight in places but perfectly passable. Some moments with wheels right on the edge of a very steep drop!

We finished the day on the other side of the island back down on the coast where I’ve treated the guys to a couple of nights in a hotel and most importantly, a rest day for today!

The overland journey will continue again tomorrow, but for now we’re enjoying a hot chocolate in the town square before having a wander around!

Hope everyone is enjoying the new year!

Many of you have been asking about my new roof tent so here it is!⛺️

I can’t tell how pleased I am to be running the new Sahara-X Hybrid Roof Tent!

I’ve had this for a couple of months now but I just wanted to test it properly before announcing it to you all, but so far it’s coped with everything! Both storms camped up in Wales, many trips out in all weathers and now it’s a pleasure using it in Corsica for 2 weeks.

You all know how much I test my gear and I’ve already given it plenty of abuse - I’ve smacked it on low branches, packed it away wet and left it, even stood on it to take a photo and it’s as good as the day I picked it up.

It’ll be properly put to the test this year, first up we’ve got Norway Arctic Circle, then Morocco Sahara, Portugal, Sardinia and Corsica! I may even throw a couple more in there for good measure!

thanks for bringing out an awesome, affordable roof tent. And because of this I’ve managed to get you guys some benefits to!

Day 3 in Corsica has been nothing short of EPIC!

Today we headed for the mountains and national park, finding not only some amazing mountain roads but spending most of the day deep into some off-road tracks!

We made our way up through a canyon with crystal clear waters deep below, climbing higher and higher before a very steep, rocky descent which led us into darkness.

Unfortunately a bridge near the end of the trail had washed away in the last high rivers so we had to turn back which was a hugely challenging climb for the trucks!

Tonight we ended the day back out on the coast with a great group of Germans we met whilst stopped for a coffee. Seeing out the new year with them before setting off again in the morning.

It’s a different vibe to Morocco for sure, but for Europe so far this is quickly becoming my most favourite place! Plus I think it’s made me want a pet pig…🤔

Happy new year everyone, thank you for all your he continued support and I can’t wait to adventure with lots of you in the years to come!

Signal is pretty terrible here tonight so I’ll catch up with you all tomorrow! Much love❤️

Day 2 of Corsica Island trip and we’re heading north. Amazing landscapes, more incredible beaches. We also visited a beautiful commune down in the south originating back thousands of years. Found some brilliant tracks and a friendly local land owner in a D1 who showed us some tracks up to an old world war gun tower!

Settled nicely into a campsite tonight and it’s so far the warmest evening of the trip. Learning a lot about the island and how fascinating it really is. Highly recommend anyone to holiday here or come along to explore.

Tomorrow heading higher into the mountains and then possibly back down to the beaches again. Making good progress even though we’ve only got 7 days here this time round.
