Twas the night before Christmas, and all round the hut,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a bat.
The logs were all lit in the woodburner with care,
In hopes that some stargazing soon would be there.
The guests were nestled all snug in their bed,
While dreams of the River Wye danced in their head.
With hot tub a’bubbling and views oh-so-bright,
They settled in for a magical night.
Out by the garden there arose such a clatter,
They sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window they flew like a flash,
Peeking out at the stars through the frosty glass.
The moon on the river so peaceful and still,
Lit up the surroundings of the Wye Valley hills.
When, what to their wondering eyes should appear,
But memories of getaways cherished all year.
So here’s to the shepherd’s hut, cozy and warm,
A perfect retreat in Mid Wales to transform.
