Brecon Beacons Tourism. The Trade Association for the Brecon Beacons National Park / Bannau Brycheiniog National Park
Brecon Beacons Tourism was established in 2006 by a team of local tourism businesses who wanted to support each other and network with the various tourism support agencies. They aimed to see the area developed as a high quality destination, where grassroots needs would be served and represented at a strategic level. Several years later, over 225 local tourism businesses of all types and sizes have
joined Brecon Beacons Tourism as members. Together we have raised the profile of the Brecon Beacons as a great place to visit, and have provided valuable information on many tourism related matters to our member businesses, as well as networking opportunities. A recent survey of our members indicated that 100% would recommend membership of BBT to others.

What’s that saying about what you find at the end of rainbows…?
It’s and so very fitting that after a rather…moist hiatus, our bookshop has re-opened today with lots of beautiful new books. We also have a stunning array of gorgeously intricate triptychs by Artist Sara Philpott for sale alongside her exhibition in The Cafe.
If that wasn’t all exciting enough have a magnificent plant sale in the Tithebarn. Do you need any more reasons to visit us today…? 💚

What do you get when you cross a #bbtmembers meeting with a barn of alpacas? Happy smiling adults and walked alpacas 🦙 Thank you to our members @alpacamyboots for hosting our meeting on Tuesday. After the required hard work of the day was completed we than had the opportunity to take the alpacas for a trek up to the trig point on Mynydd Illtud for stunning views of the hills, and a happy alpaca who was giving himself a good old dust bath/roll. Good old Reg (all have their own names and very distinct personalities. I walked Iolo) I don’t think anyone left without a grin Technically a group of alpaca are a herd but I’ve also come across a suggested collective noun for them as being a ‘fluffle’ I think we should all have the word fluffle in our vocabulary so here’s to the fluffle of alpaca who made us smile These alpaca also make visits to see older folk & younger folk in need of support, they work with various groups supporting those with neurodiverse needs. They help smooth and relax. All suitably fluffle like behaviour. So much to see in Brecon … did you know that in 1850s there were 51 inns for a population of 4,000 people? What about the old railway and the viaduct that reached across the town in parts? Or the fact that the UKs first female to receive a doctorate in medicine , trained in Zurich, was a resident of Brecon in 1870; Elizabeth Hoggan She lived where Nichols is now located. Watch for news on Brecons First Lady Mayoress in 1910 Gwenllian Morgan. Only the second female in the UK to hold the title. There are plans to celebrate her in the offing. We also heard about why there was an accidental delivery of a statue of Boudica in 1978! She’s still here. Why they stored gunpowder in the roof space of the guildhall and last, for this post, why Free Street is called Free Street. I’m not telling you! Do take the tour to find out. Huge thanks to @breconstory for leading us on a special walk around Brecon. Organised in conjunction with @bannaubrycheiniogbreconbeacons #ambassadors and members of @breconbeaconstourism A fascinating talk from Andy Collinson and Elizabeth Jeffries made for a really informative and fun day. Pick up copies of #breconstory walking tour map from @visit_brecon or scan the QR codes on the lampposts around town. Huge thanks to all involved. And highly recommended. #localguides #breconbeaconsambassadors #bbtmembers #networking #collaborating #tourguide #walkingtour
A day out with members @limitlesstrails A local trail running events coordinator in our beautiful hills. Keeping the events small, avoiding the more crowded areas and hosting some self navigated events (so no flags/chalk spray etc #leavenotrace) Having back runners who not only sweep up the last runners but check the course for accidentally discarded rubbish. Ellen and her teamwork hard with the local communities to create events that are great for trail runners, local accommodations and eateries, but also have minimal impact on the environment. #limitlesstrails has events from 10km up to ultra distances Dare you take on her #beast challenges? Cani-cross welcome on selected routes Check out the website for all event details https://www.limitlesstrails.co.uk/ #walesbytails #walesbytrails #findyourepic #trailrunning #adventure #localbusiness #running #ultrarunning #ultraevents #justdoit #getoutside

A huge thank you to everyone who networked with such enthusiasm today. @bannaubrycheiniogbreconbeacons Tourism officer Carol drew together a great a day for Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons Ambassadors old and new. Supported by funding we had an event that went beyond the normal networking…. From a small classroom @kevinwalker__99 / Kevin Walker Mountain Activities managed to get a flash mob (Hey Jude never sounded like this), a straw monolith, a scavenger hunt, a whistling ensemble and a giant jigsaw 🧩 completed with cooperation & huge laughs. On the serious side networking reached new heights in the form of that paper straw monolith. The stickman, well that was a work of art worthy of an art gallery space. Thank you everyone , activity, place & accommodation providers. We salute you #networking #businesses #localbusiness #keepsupporting #supportingsmallbusinesses #tourismbusiness #standingtogether #standasone #bannaubrycheiniog #breconbeacons #breconbeaconsambassadors

Out running early this morning, passing by Ty Newydd Holidays - B&B and Holiday Cottages I have to admit I could have called in for breakfast, it was a stunning morning. Imagine waking there in March when Walk Hay is leading walks using this as a base. https://www.walkhay.co.uk/event-details/guided-easy-walking-weekend-near-brecon-luxury-b-b And no, running with three dogs isn’t cheating, it’s a nightmare of twisted leads 😂 #walkingholiday #towpath #canal #walesbytrails #findyourepic #monmouthbreconcanal
👀 New Member shout out @limitlesstrails Limitless Trails 🌱 We love the sustainable ethos provided by our local trail running race experts & organisers Avoiding honey pot areas Ellen brings runners, in small numbers, to some lesser known areas of the park. Using local accommodations, local trail runners as back runners & organisers, and local knowledge. No chalk/aerosol marks or tape are used in marking her trails and a move towards self navigated runs mean that she is highlighting the need to respect the outdoors. A full litter sweep is carried out after each race. Looking for a race in 2024? 👉https://www.limitlesstrails.co.uk/ Meet the team behind Limitless Trails 👉 https://www.limitlesstrails.co.uk/meet-the-team Ellen Wood Founder - Race Director My heart belongs to the mountains - this is where I feel alive and where I get to call home. My love for the hills began at a young age which has developed into a deep passion that has inspired me to create Limitless Trails. My dedication will be my pledge - the experience, my gift. If I can create the opportunity for even just one person to discover the benefits of exploring the mountains, then I would have fulfilled a small dream. Our Promise We aim to deliver unique and inspiring challenges with professional support and commitment. We’ve been running trail races and ultras for years and in that time we’ve picked out all of our favourite bits and made them better. From the support to the food, to the recce runs, to the community you’ll become a part of - we’ll be here every step of the way ensuring that you have the best day possible. We believe whole-heartedly in the ‘leave-no-trace’ mentality - this means that all of our events are plastic cup and tape free. We are a team of local trail runners who pride themselves in delivering unique trails that we know extremely well, down to the last step. Our knowledge of our area makes running the trails safe, with no hidden surprises. #
