Metal Spraying of a worn shaft to rebuild bearing seat to correct dimensions. This is Powder Flame Spraying using Oxy-Acetylene.
Perfect for shafts as it is a 'cold' process so there is no distortion.

Some jobs going through the workshop the last few weeks. We've rebuilt our surface grinder and ground some parts. Lanced a few pins from hydraulic rams. Taken delivery of a 1918 steam locomotive chimney for repair and completed 10 hardfaced bolt protectors.

Anyone after composite wear plate? Highly abrasion resistant and impact resistant varieties in a range of thicknesses. These are seconds as they've warped so a lot cheaper than normal. Give us a DM and I'll see if there's a sheet suitable for your application.

1920's Holbrook leadscrew nut reclaimed. The original cast bronze nut was cut in half, and then the threads machined out with a 1" ball nose end mill. New piece of phosphor bronze was turned to 1" and left slightly over length. Silver soldered together with JM EasyFlo No. 2.
Happy customer and preserved the original part.

Bale grab repair continued... Had several ideas on how to strengthen this assembly - particularly to take the strain off of the box section which had split before. I think adding the second pin at the top along with the additional rigidity from the stiffeners should stop a lot of the flexion. The original design having only one pin was a leverage point for sure.

They don't make motors like they used to. The ancient power hammer motor has been in for overhaul with our friends over at Electrical Repair Co. It's had a checkover with the meter and now the windings are being cleaned. 80 years of coke dust take their toll!

We just had to source some imperial bearings, as the originals were obsolete designations. Took the rotor down to our local bearing supplier and they've sorted us out a KSM for the deep groove and another firm is sorting the roller bearing. So now it's time to pull these bearings off using the new (to me) Sykes puller.

Failed silver solder joint on one of the heavy duty cladding torches. Chucked it in the lathe, vee'd out the joint, and used some Johnson Matthey cadmium bearing silver solder to glue it all back together.
