Many of these mountains remain unnamed and unsummited, areas so remote you could only dream of climbing these monsters. Parts of this valley have the remains of a settlement, possibly used as a religious site by the early people of this area. Even with evidence of people living here, very few studies have been conducted, leaving only the mystery and majesty of this incredible place.

This year we are heading back to Kyrgyzstan in search of snow leopards who call these mountains home. On our 10-day expedition in the park you will get the chance to work directly with local rangers, help track and spot snow leopards and live off grid in one of the most remote mountain ranges in the world.

A Sooty Mangabey watches us through the jungle gloom.

As part of your 9 day wild chimp expedition, you will also have the privilege of meeting these guys, a troop of habituated Sooty Mangabeys. It's a unique chance to get close to a species that would normally be very wary of humans. You can watch as family groups groom each other, mothers tend to their young ones, and males fighting it out for there place at the top. They are completely wild but our local guides have over many years created a special relationship, mostly for research, and are now allowing you to come and experience their secret world.

Tiny worlds...

The Jungle is known for its giants, but even on the floor, you begin to see a tiny world full of life. These tiny mushrooms cling to a small piece of wood shaded under a thick canopy. Wherever you are in the forest you can see life small or large, and this is why this place is so special an ecosystem teaming with life.

Portrait of a wild horse...

These amazing animals are the lifeblood of conservation in this remote mountain range. These hardy beasts endure -35, blizzards, and some of the toughest weather in the world.

Without horses, much of the important work the rangers do cannot be accomplished. When the rangers aren't being rangers they are herders and many of these semi-wild horses help them earn the money they need to keep working in the mountains.
