One of our latest finds is this grand estate house enclosed in unspoilt Keralan wilderness. There's little around but tropical forests, jungle and the drifting Periyar River. This is a side of India few get to see.

Despite the wild surrounds, you won't be short on comfort. The house offers 5 airy rooms, a fantastic restaurant and a pool with views you can't help but linger on. But easy as it would be to laze in the grounds all day, beautiful Kerala awaits. You don't get much more on-the-beach than this striking design house in Lincolnshire. Despite being only a few miles from Skegness, little-known Anderby Creek is one of the country's most wildly beautiful beaches, part of a 60-hectare nature reserve, and this hideaway sits directly behind it.

You'll wake up to the sunrise casting pink light over the sea, framed by the large picture windows. You might even catch glimpses of dolphins or porpoises gliding past. There are three bedrooms, a dreamy kitchen, kayaks and paddleboards to borrow, so free-range families will be in their element.

Well, this is a shake-up for the North Yorkshire coast hotel scene – typically jolly seaside affairs, and homely pubs and B&Bs.

Tucked off the coastal road, you'll find this a self-declared ‘wellness sanctuary’ with spa, gardens, terraces, lake, woodland walks, and numerous eating options. The surroundings are beautiful, and the interiors are sleek, smooth, and supremely calming. From the cool colours and creamy corridors to the sisal rugs on bedroom floors, subtly textured bathroom tiles, and carefully placed pots of herbs, no corner has been left unflourished by a designer's hand.

Wander the grounds, relax in the spa and pool, have a cocktail on the terrace – preferably after a blast on the beach.

The last leg of Alice's 2-week trip through Vietnam took her to Ho Chi Minh City. Here's what she thought:

"HCMC was unlike anywhere we'd been so far in Vietnam. It felt young and futuristic, a modern metropolis with gleaming skyscrapers and fashionable residents. By day, people fill the pristine streets lined with trendy boutiques and coffee shops, then they head skywards to catch the sunset, cocktail in hand, from one of the countless rooftop bars.

Our hotel perfectly embodied the spirit of District 1. Elegant and refined, but far from pretentious. We wandered the cultural centre and absorbed the tumultuous history of southern Vietnam, then eagerly returned for evenings in the rooftop pool, panoramic cocktail bar and luxurious restaurant. A spoiling way to sign off our trip."
