Sky Access UK LTD

Sky Access UK LTD Commercial High Level Glazing Specialists - IRATA Member company We are vastly experienced in all aspects of specialist access.

Sky Access UK Ltd was established to provide specialist access to commercial buildings throughout the UK. We have over 15 years experience in this sector, providing a first class service in a professional and safe manner. We have IRATA trained technicians with in house level 3 operatives, IPAF qualifications to allow us to utilise all types of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, PASMA training to allo

w the use of alloy access towers amongst several other specialised qualifications. In short, we can safely access almost any part of a commercial building. Our team comes from a glazing background and this is what sets us apart from our competitors. Whilst some companies can match our experience in glazing, they cannot match our access qualifications and often end up subcontracting labour (in truth this is where a lot of our work comes from). Similarly, other rope access companies do not have the experience in working with glazing. Therefore, we are able to offer a first class service in the most cost efficient manner. Our glazing services include the replacement of defective glass, whether cracked, smashed or filling up with condensation; leak identification and rectification, offering a variety of guarantees to suit our clients; and full, intrusive, inspections with detailed yet comprehensive reports. Glazing is not our only forte, however. We offer numerous other services including pest control (installation of netting spikes or wires); lightning protection; brickwork, roof and gutter repairs; and the installation of vinyl and banners to transform your building or provide advertising. If there is anything you require assistance with then please do not hesitate to contact us, and in the meantime please take a moment to take a look at our website for more details about us and our services. We look forward to hearing from you.

Project Showcase - Rope Access for High Level Glass Replacements

Working for our client Workman LLP, we asked our friends at Define Creative joined us for a day filming a particularly tricky glass replacement in central London.

Due to the glass location on the 6th floor, we required the use of our rope access technicians alongside lifting equipment supplied by Ainscough Crane Hire and GGR Group. It was also an opportunity for us to debut our new Never Let Go Space Nets ensuring an extra control measure was in place.

A full road closure was organised with Nationwide Traffic Solutions Ltd to isolate the road and works area.

Works were safely completed on time and budget with the support of our supply chain partners showing the benefits of collaborative working and rope access.

If you have any requirements for a future high level glazing works then get in touch with Stewart Anderson, Jon Wilson or the team at [email protected]

After their epic charity Tuk Tuk challenge to raise funds for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) organised by Travelteer, Jon and Ross have now returned to work and 1000+ emails each!

As part of the challenge, the team joined a number of other
charitable organisations including Rosie May Foundation Buckinghamshire Mind, Rainbow Children's Hospital and many more,

All involved traveled over 400km across Sri Lanka over a variety of difficult terrains including sprawling cities with never ending rush hours, steep mountain roads with unforgiving hairpin bends , jungle rainforest with incredibly fast moving leeches and beautiful beaches.

The journey across the Sri Lanka countryside involved days of
glorious sunshine and monsoon rains making every day different. Driving along the roads had the extra hazards of other drivers and an abundance of wildlife including elephants, water buffalo, crocodiles and mischievous monkeys!

With numerous breakdowns along the way, the support Mechanic was kept busy keeping the vehicles on the move and find locations that still had fuel due to country wide shortages.

Whilst away, Sri Lanka was going through a period of political
turmoil which resulted in numerous protests and Nationwide curfews throughout offering an unexpected challenge along the way. Even with the economic and political problems the people of Sri Lanka were extremely friendly and welcoming and nothing can take away the diversity and beauty of the country.

With the journey complete, Jon and Ross had an opportunity to reflect on their travels and the beauty of Sri Lanka.

EACH are our chosen charity for 2022 and we are still looking to
raise funds for their vital work. Please donate on our Justgiving page below to help them continue

East Anglia's Children's Hospices - EACH Sky Access Charity Trek Update

Yesterday the team completed a 3hour hike up Ella’s Rock, followed by some very hilly driving in torrential rain.

Unfortunately, their exhaust broke along the way so they've been making a horrendous noise. As seen below, it was fixed this morning and they are now on our way to Worlds End.

As the journey continues we hope to get more support for our fundraising efforts. Please donate at justgiving.com/fundraising/skyaccessuk

We were asked to complete a double glazed glass replacement to the pent house on top of a 26 story, 100m high, luxury apartment block in South London. The only way of transporting the glass to the pent house was externally using the onsite cradle system.

All our in house glaziers are IRATA rope access trained and always working under the supervision of a level 3 rope access supervisor. Our technicians also carry IPAF, PASMA and site specific cradle training allowing us to access any part of a building safely regardless of height or size.

We were called in to complete the high level snagging list for our client on this refurbishment project to an apartment block in Preston. Works included the installation of new glass, new aluminium profile section and application of new silicone seals.

We are often contacted nearing the end of refurbishment and new build projects, once the scaffold or fixed access has been removed in order to provide the access to complete outstanding works.

We take on a large number of one-off high level, difficult access, glass replacements. Our aim is to complete works with as little disruption to our client and in safe manner. This is of particular importance when working on hotels, as they offer a 24hour service.

When planning works on this Newcastle based hotel, selecting a time that allows the hotel to run as normal is of paramount importance. The majority of the set up was completed out of sight to minimise disruption for the guests and site staff. By careful planning and setting up correctly, the time required for replacing the glass is greatly reduced. All works were completed to the tightest of schedules and works were completed to the highest standard leaving the client very please and relieved.

Following a restoration to this lift and lift shaft in a prestigious London bank we were asked to complete a full clean down of internal walls and external lift car. Specialist rope access was required to access all areas safely.
Working in a lift shaft can be particularly hazardous so the project had to be impeccably planned with the minutest detail covered in our extensive site specific RAMS.
The clean was conducted on a Sunday and signed off on the day to allowing our client to meet their deadline.
