Milton of Callander

lies at the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and today nearly 1000 acres of it forms part of the Great Trossachs Forest National Nature Reserve – a 200 year-long landscape-scale woodland restoration project involving the RSPB, Forestry & Land Scotland and the Woodland Trust. We are only an 8 min drive (or 1 hour walk) away from the busy town of Callander.

The town serves as the eastern gateway to Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park first National Park in Scotland, and is often referred to as the "Gateway to the Highlands". It really has everything you might want, even it’s own Jazz Festival every October. Milton farm and Glen forms a part of Moray Estates, the estates and properties of the Earl of Moray and his family. The Moray family have owned and managed the estates since 1562. The Estates are a family business with the Earl of Moray and his family living on, and leading the management of, the Estates to this day. Though primarily the home of some very charming sheep Milton Farm is also inhabited by an impressive variety of wild animals. We have red deer, doe, badgers and fox. Red squirrels, geese, pheasants and tiny field vole. The varied vegetation of the farm provides habitats for rare and endangered species, such as pine marten, osprey, red kite, and the tawny owl. Everywhere. Our 2 shepherd huts lie on the hill above our farm. Each sleeps 2 people in a large double bed, have their own bathrooms with shower and an outdoor kitchen. The huts are set apart from eachother to provide some privacy but share a path and carpark. We welcome well-behaved dogs but ask that you keep your friendly K9 with you at all times because we are a working sheep farm. We are a family run working farm with direct access to woodland walks, mountain biking networks and beaches. As you cosy up in your bed at night you might hear the deer walking past the huts on their way to the Loch. In late September into October each year you will be mistaken for thinking the Trolls of Norwegian lore are coming down the Ben Ledi to get you but it is in fact the rut starting..and it is not you they are calling for
