I'm appalled at the secretive way this was done, allowing no public consultation whatsoever! Shame on those responsible! The little bothy at Warnscale Head overlooking Buttermere in the Lake District, was sold to an American millionaire last year. But last month it was dismantled stone by stone and shipped over to the States where it was reassembled on Staten Island, New York. They've reproduced it exactly as it was at Buttermere but the view is nothing like as good! Absolutely gutted!

In good visibility, navigating up and back down Ben Nevis in winter can seem quite straightforward. It is a busy mountain and there is often a well trodden path to the summit, as well as cairns above...

The Scafells in one day. An amazing adventure for those looking for something a little more challenging. This is the roughest terrain in the district and involves some minor scrambling on Scafell.
It's ideal for individuals and small groups.
Interested? Email, text or call any time for more information.

Morning all.

β οΈ Closure of A82 Glencoe Three Sisters parking areas for improvement works from 30 Oct for eight weeks βοΈ
π
ΏοΈβ From 7am on Monday, the larger Three Sisters parking area, known as the Coire Gabhail / Hidden Valley car park, will be closed until around Friday 22 December, for redesign and resurfacing, including the introduction of marked parking bays to ensure a safer and more organised parking capacity πππ΅π²
π
ΏοΈβ From end of November, the smaller Three Sisters parking layby, known as the Coire nan Lochan layby, will also be closed for up to four weeks, in order to undertake improvement works and resurfacing. In the future, this layby will be dedicated to buses and coaches ππ
Most of this work will be taking place off-road, limiting disruption to road users, though there will be several occasions when traffic management on the A82 will be in placeπ¦
β οΈ While the parking areas are closed, drivers are asked to respect road signage, stop only in other designated car parks and laybys, and not park illegally on the roadside, which is a Clearway throughout the Glencoe area π§
Footpaths into the mountains around the Three Sisters will not be affected π₯Ύ
This work has been programmed to avoid the height of the tourist season, as well as the traditional winter climbing season, to help minimise impact on visitors and walkers, however we understand it may cause inconvenience to some, and thank everyone for their patience ππ
We hope it will bring much-needed improvements to road and parking safety, landscape presentation and the visitor experience at this popular location for sightseers and walkers in the heart of Glencoe National Nature Reserve NTS ποΈπ
Plans have been developed in collaboration with Transport Scotland and .Scotland, in line with mandatory design standards for trunk roads.
We are grateful for funding support from the Scottish Governmentβs Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund for this project, which is a partnership with The Highland Council and our local community.
If you have any questions, please message us here ππ

Next time you're doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks or walking in the Yorkshire Dales, pay attention to the huge limestone paving slabs under your feet. The texture and colours are amazing, particularly in the wet. They're like works of art. These ones are on Whernside.
