We designed MeiliGPS to enable you to keep track of the people you care about (or are responsible for) when they're in the outdoors.

Here's a tale of how product design can sometimes take a twist: all thanks to Odie, the Meili office dog, and a pesky wabbit.

So what do you think? We're quite excited about this - our Meili GPS trackers are fully independent, they don't need a phone nearby to work.

That sets MeiliGPS apart from traditional tracking solutions like AirTags (which only have a range of about 30 metres outside) or even other trackers which need to connect to your phone to send a location.

Which let's be honest, is no good if your dog has just disappeared over the horizon.

Our CTO Simon Purves accompanied a team of hikers to the Massif des Écrins in the Dauphiné Alps to test Meili GPS in a large group setting, issuing Meili GPS trackers to each group member, and inviting the group leaders to join a session that he had set up for the trip by downloading the Meili Earth App.

They took a 9km trail near Pelvoux, Hautes-Alpes, a fairly challenging route/scramble but rewarded by a stay in the Glacier Blanc refuge by following the Glacier Blanc torrent, and passing in front of the pretty Tuckett lake. The following day the team climbed up to the glacier.

One of the purposes, from our perspective, was to test performance of Meili GPS when managing a large group, which became increasing spread out as younger/fitter members of the group surged ahead, and not always in entirely the right direction!
