Not long to go until the annual Fossil Festival in Lyme Regis, just a short bus hop away from the cottage (10 minutes to be precise)!

This year's programme includes fossil walks, exhibitions at the Lyme Regis Museum and the Jubilee Pavilion, craft and art workshops, and many guest speakers.

It is set to be a lot of fun!

Do you enjoy cooking up a storm when on holiday? The village of Charmouth has many great options for somewhere to eat, but sometimes there is nothing better than getting everyone together to enjoy some holiday home cooking.

The cottage kitchen has everything you could need...from potato peelers to pots and pans, bottle openers to baking sheets, teapots to toasters, egg cups to cake tins. We also have a small stock of cookbooks with tasty recipes inside.

Escape to the idyllic seaside village of Charmouth for some sun, sea and sand.

The village is the ideal place for your cottage stay, with all amenities and activities within a short 10 minute walk of your front door.

Start your day with breakfast at a local cafe. Spend time on the peaceful sandy beach, or walk along the coastline fossil hunting. After lunch (don't forget your ice cream on the beach), venture for a walk into the countryside to fill your afternoon, or visit the pretty local church or the Heritage Centre to learn more about the area. Then why not end the day with a delicious meal at one of the pubs, soaking up the sun on their outdoor terrace or garden. Finally fall into one of our comfy beds and snooze!

Today we would like to highlight (and thank!) this fantastic local business! The Pure Sage Company are the lovely team that manage the changeovers of our pretty holiday cottage. They are the people that give you the fluffy white towels, crisp cool bedding, and leave the cottage clean, bright and lovely, ready for your arrival!

Our beautiful cottage is a 10-minute flat walk to the beach (door to sand)! It sleeps 4 and is fully equipped for babies, toddlers, and children... as well as having all you need if you are a couple or group of friends. We also accept one small, well-behaved dog.

Come and have drinks in the south facing and sunny courtyard, eat breakfast in the traditional dining area, enjoy a movie on the comfy sofas, and spend a restful sleep in the sumptuous beds.

Less than a 10 minute walk from the front door, you will find two delightful pubs, a local bakery, a delicious fish & chip shop, and local stores for all your needs. The bus stop is directly outside, and a short trip of 15 minutes will take you into the wonderful town of Lyme Regis where you can explore to your heart's content.

We accept stays of 3 nights and up and can help you with any ideas for local attractions.

Recognise this view?

The beautiful beach huts on Charmouth Beach that featured in the TV series Broadchurch (a 10 minute flat walk from the cottage door).

There are many claims to fame in this local area, and not just related to fossiling!

Broadchurch was filmed on Charmouth Beach, Ammonite was filmed in both Charmouth and Lyme Regis, and Wonka was filmed in Lyme Regis.

Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens are beautiful gardens with magnificent plants and views of the bay. They are open every day from 10am to 4pm, and allow dogs on short leads.

Just a short trip from the cottage, they are a great day out, with a coffee shop and gift shop on site.

And to really relax, leave your car at the cottage and hop on the local bus service, which stops right outside the front door!

If you are staying with us soon, you might just catch a glimpse of the beautiful blossom and spring bulbs.

With brighter days now here, now is the time to explore the local area.

This is Hell Lane, running between Symondsbury and North Chideock. Walking along here can be incredibly atmospheric, and remember to look for the strange carvings that can be found along the route!

Gems like this are a short drive (15 minutes) from the cottage. You can find well documented walking routes to include this beautiful sight from the Visit Dorset website or on your OS Maps App.

We absolutely love The Lyme Bay in nearby Lyme Regis!
They have such a wide range of food from breakfast, to lunch and through to dinner. But for us it is the quality cocktails...just make sure you book a local taxi to get you home to the cottage!

Dorset has so many places to explore!

There are almost 3,000 miles of public rights of way. That's 4,700 footpaths, 1,700 bridleways, and 37 byways.

There are 87 miles of coastline, most of which is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's a year round attraction for relaxation, walking and fossil hunting.

There are four country parks and visitor centres with cafes. They offer accessible ways to enjoy many landscapes, making it easier to connect with nature.
