Chester's war memorial by Chester Cathedral is a regular stop on our Women of Chester - Guided Walk. But this remembrance weekend we will of course be particularly reflecting on the efforts of Chester's women in both World Wars and the sacrifices made. We also think about earlier wars that impacted the city and how women were affected.

We regularly feature Curatia Dionysia as our Roman era “Woman of Chester” on our Sunday morning Women of Chester - Guided Walk.

The King Charles Tower on the city walls is often a stop on our Women of Chester - Guided Walk. Thanks to the wonderful volunteers from we were able to get inside during last Sunday's walk and learn more about women's experiences during the Civil War Siege of Chester.

It will be open again next weekend so there will be another opportunity for a visit then. See Chester Heritage Festival website for more details.

Our tours this week are on Wednesday 13th at 5.30 pm and on Sunday 17th at 11.30 am. Tickets available from the Chester Visitor Information Centre.

Our next Women of Chester - Guided Walk tour is this evening, 30th August at 5.30 pm.

These early evening walks are just lovely. There's a special kind of calm as the city centre shifts from day to night and we can have usually busy spots to ourselves to explore.

If you can't make it tonight, the next tour is on Sunday morning at 11.30 am, another great time to see the city.

Join our tour this Sunday 30th July at 11.30 am and there may well be a chance to encounter a real life amazing Woman of Chester along the way. This sounds like a great initiative!

This Sunday! Join us for 'Re-Living the Rows', a new free event taking place on Sunday 30 July between 10am and 4pm.

The event brings Chester's historic Rows to life, with a group of performers taking on the roles of historic characters.

The entire event has been created by Chester Young Producers; a group of Chester teenagers supported by The Grosvenor Museum. The one-day event will capture a little bit of what life was like in Chester’s unique past.
