Here at Millmoor farm we are passionate about farming in a sustainable way that is as nature friendly as possible. On some of our fields we have planted herbal leys for the past few years which contain a mix of chicory, clover and perennial ryegrass. Chicory can help reduce gastrointestinal worms in sheep which in turn can reduce the need for wormers.

This season we have been regularly faecal egg counting our ewes and lambs to keep an eye on worm burdens and the April lambing flock have come back as consistently low meaning we haven’t wormed this flock all year so far. We will continue to monitor this throughout the season.

Although we haven’t had much of a summer yet, chicory is also known for its drought resistant properties which may come in handy if we ever get any sun!

We seem to be overrun with hares at the moment on the farm, it’s a lovely sight to see!

Millmoor Farm animal experiences - Meet our baby animals, One hour experience in Cheshire Countryside. A chance for 2 people per group to feed Jeremy the baby goat and Lambie the baby lamb. Also opportunities to interact with all the other goats, meet the pigs and piglets, see Dudley and Eddie our gorgeous donkeys, see the calves, collie dogs and more on our family working farm in Cheshire. What a fabulous weekend we had with all our lovely visitors. We were so busy, i didnt take any photographs but they all seemed to love seeing the lambs, Romeo the goat was his usual show off self!! Some were lucky enough to see a live birth, Dave and our super Vet Students gave some talks and demonstrations on after care of sheep, others saw all the calves being fed, cuddled the lambs, and everyone enjoyed the cake and tea!! We just have one day available to book now on Saturday, 13 April, there are still some slots free in both times.
