Great view of Mussenden Temple perched on the cliff edge .. a coach and horses could drive right around it when first built 200 years ago .. that’s a lot of coastal erosion! A very nice , easy cycle from Clonaslee ( coast and country house ) 232 Windyhill Road COLERAINE N. Ireland to Mussenden Temple and Downhill ..

Another lovely day for golf at Portstewart .. well wind forecast & it is always much windier on the coast .. despite my address Clonaslee House 232 WINDYHILL Road COLERAINE , it is actually more sheltered than the coast !!!!

Mussenden Temple is a very special monument built by the 4th Earl of Bristol , better known as the Earl Bishop. He developed the Downhill Estate during the 1770s. The Temple was built in remembrance of a much loved cousin. Built on the edge of a 100 foot cliff it has become a symbol of love. Today was very special ….as I walked across the grass in front of the Temple a guy approached me and asked if I could take his photograph in a few moments to record him proposing marriage to his lovely girlfriend…I was delighted to help but held back to ensure she accepted ! Adrian is from Galway and his fiancé is Lithuanian… congratulations and all the best … he got down on one knee and took Divia completely by surprise … just before it started to rain and they both lived happily ever after
