Saturday 22nd March.
3 hour morning (10am-1pm) or afternoon session (2pm-5pm).
At Snowdonia Gear Repair workshop in Y Felinheli.

ONLY £10 per person.

Bring your outdoor kit that needs fixing and we'll teach you to hand sew, tape, glue, patch and darn it back to life.

It'll be a great day.

You'll learn some new skills with some super nice people.

Emma will be there all day with unlimited tea and biscuits!

What a FANTASTIC first Mums in the Mountains hike.

A day building confidence and getting outside.

The weather was beaut!

We had lunch with great views, devoured brownies, laughed a lot.

Also - no one slipped in the mud which was a bonus.

An excellent day in the mountains with Bear.

This fluffy butt legend smashed out 18km with me today.

Plenty of cold water dipping opportunities for him.

We shared roast chicken on Y Llethr (he ate most of it, it was terrible chicken!)

He negotiated ladder stiles like a champ.

He put up with me taking stupid selfies.

We only saw 4 people all day.

He inhaled his dinner and has been asleep since.

In fact I should go check on him because I don't think he's moved for the last 3 hours!

Gemma is an incredible yoga instructor who's working with us on all our Wild Swim Retreats.

Gem has been teaching for 6 years and prides herself on creating a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone.

With a deep passion for movement, mindfulness and the great outdoors, Gem brings a wealth of experience in yoga, breathwork and relaxation techniques.

Her sessions are designed to complement the natural rhythm of wild swimming, helping you connect with your body, enhance flexibility and find a sense of calm in nature.

Today we walked up Rhinog Fach.

We had a bit of a later start - Bear snoring and Roxy bed diving us at 02:00 didn't give us the best nights sleep.

But - we fuelled up on cheesy scrambled eggs and headed to the Rhinogs.

No wind. Clear tops. Moderately chilly.

Not a single person to be seen.

Delightful.

Back home for late lunch and admin.

Today we walked up Elidir Fawr.

Roxy woke us up at 04:30 - the absolute s**t bag.

So we drank some tea, stretched and made porridge.

Owen stirred salted caramel protein powder into the porridge - which was pretty gross.

The walk in was cold, especially in the wind.

We felt pretty strong and fast today.

We covered about 11 km and 700 meters of ascent in 2.5 hours.

The easy walk in and out helped.

It was really cold on the way up.

We reached the sun and cut out of the wind on the East Ridge - it was lush.

We didn't really hang around anywhere, a quick snack on the top and then down.

Bear was a complete dick at the bottom, that upset us.

We always forget how many people there will be in the mountains on a Saturday.

Down before midday, just in time to steal many mugs of tea by invading peoples houses.

Was a good day, could have been a great day 7/10.

Walks are the first Wednesday of every month and we'll aim to push ourselves and walk a bit further each time.

We like them so much that we've decided to join up with them and offer some gear repair workshops.

Bring along your outdoor gear to be repaired.

Hand sewing, tapes and glues, patches, zips and darning.

Emma will be there all day. Snowdonia Gear Repair people are lovely.

The BIG Swim - Saturday 8th or March - International Women's Day

Sandbanks, Dorset and Brighton Beach.

We are absolutely pumped to help celebrate International Women's Day by supporting 'The Big Swim'.

'The Big Swim' is going to be the biggest female swim event of its kind - ever.

It's happening at Sandbanks in Dorset and Brighton Beach at the same time.

"We're so excited to celebrate International Women's Day by jumping in the sea with hundreds of women," says Land & Wave Ltd Director, Rosie. "We've been long campaigning to get more women outdoors - this is the perfect event to get everyone involved."

"You can dip a toe, take the plunge or swim a while. Come celebrate the amazing women in your life on the beach."

Every participant of 'The Big Swim' at the Sandbanks location will be entered into a mega prize draw, which includes a full day of guided Mountain Swimming from Wild Wales.

'The Big Swim' is a free event, but you must register your place.

We had NO idea that a community Mountain Leader Training course would be so popular!

Last week we had 21 applications and we've filled 10 spaces.

8 woman signed up so far - which is lush!

Lots of local people signed up.

Great enthusiasm and questions already.

We think that we'll probably fill the course this week.

If you know someone that would love to work in the mountains please share this post with them or tag them in the comments.

Running from Monday 5th of May – Saturday 10th of May.
Not more than £250 per candidate (normally £450)
Support before the course (days on the hill).
A clear pathway towards assessment after the course.
Support with ‘quality mountain days’ after training.

Why Waterproof Jackets Don’t Work...

Waterproof jackets can't keep you dry.

Even if they're 'breathable'.

Because - sweat and science.

We've explained everything = link in the comments.

It does NOT matter how much money you spend.

It is ALL about venting.

So don't spend lots of money.

There are currently GREAT jackets from Rab, Mountain Equipment, Marmot etc on vinted for £40 - £80.

Buy second hand. Wash it. Re-proof it. Tumble dry it.

Then USE it. And vent it. And look after it.

Introducing 'Mums in the Mountains'.

The kids are back in school.

Your time is restricted.

You want to get outside, get some fresh air, get active.

Meet some other awesome women.

Well this is your chance.

WHEN: Wednesday 5th February and happening the 1st Wednesday every month.

TIME: Meet at 10am for a hilly hike. (We'll be finished by 2pm latest, in time for the school run)

WHERE: February hike will start in Garndolbenmaen.

COST: February walk is FREE please book using link in the comments.

The walk will be led by a qualified female Mountain Leader.

The usual cost will be £15 per person.

Each month will be in a different location and build on the last with the aim of hiking Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa on a Sunday in September.
