Our England Team may not have clinched glory last night, but our Gilkes Footballing hero's secured victory over the weekend in the Gilkes v Anord Mardix Charity match.

The "Graham O'Callaghan Shield" was played on Saturday, held in memory of Scott O'Callaghan's father.

Congratulations to the Gilkes team for their 4-2 victory, with goals from Shaun Gardner, Jacob Carway and Jason Jones, with Jacob taking Man of the Match.

Well done to all the Gilkes and Mardix players who participated in the match and the fantastic support, raising an impressive £1,542 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

New technology, new capabilities, new efficiencies – transform your hydropower plant with modern technology.

By integrating new technologies, we can optimise performance for future demands. Designs such as fully automated control systems, remote monitoring and digital management, ensure hydro installations gain new capabilities and efficiencies. Key updates and upgrades not only enhance current operations but also future proof a hydro plant for years to come.

Our engineering team have recently undertaken upgrade work on a Biwater vertical Pelton machine originally installed in 1998. The 388kW plant required installation of a new plc control panel with Gilkes standard HMI , and hydraulic control module, as well as refurbishment of the branch pipes, focusing on the replacement of the spear rods and tips. Once installed the plant was fully recommissioned by the team.

Our engineers have completed commissioning of the latest installation in the USA. The 500kW, 550mm Francis turbine is now operational at a water treatment plant in Denver, Colorado. Following the plant's commissioning, our engineers conducted comprehensive operator training for the plant staff.

Our dedicated service engineers are always ready to brave any weather conditions. Here, on a call-out to inspect a head level sensor at a site located on the Morvern Peninsula, Scotland. This visit was in response to a lightning strike that occurred recently.

As 2023 comes to an end, we can celebrate the completion of our final Hydro commissioning of the year. The Blind Slough refurbishment project in Alaska was a full replant of the original turbine and associated equipment.

Blind Slough has produced hydroelectricity from the waters of Crystal Lake in Petersburg, Alaska for almost 100 years. The new 2.2MW Twin Jet Pelton turbine replaces a 1955 Pelton and other powerhouse equipment to keep the facility operational well into the future.

A huge thank you to all our customers and partners who collaborated to help make these projects a success. We look forward to working together in 2024 and contributing even more clean, reliable power through sustainable hydropower development.

Our engineers have reached the wet commissioning stage of our latest project in the USA. The 850mm diameter runner is on a Twin Jet Pelton that will generate 2.2 MW of power.

Gilkes have been installing hydropower turbines in the USA since the early 1960's, this latest projects brings the total installed capacity to 207 MW of renewable power, contributed to the Clean Energy Grid across the country.
