Torbay Council have a few places left on the School Holiday Subsidised Learn to Ride courses for children who are in School Years 3 to 6.

There are courses running in Brixham, Paignton and Torquay during the Half Term. Bikes and helmets can be provided. Details and booking links are in the comments below.

Torbay Council teaches Bikeability in almost every primary school in the Bay. Here’s what one mum had to say after her son’s Level 2 course this week.

My son did bikeability this week. I just wanted to message and say thank you so much; your team were amazing. He has disabilities and struggles a lot, but your team went above and beyond to support and help him. We didn't think he would complete the whole course but he did! This has been a huge achievement for him and although he still needs practice and help to continue being a safe rider, he is now a lot more aware and I'm more confident with him riding a bike now.

The Easter Holiday Learn to Ride Sessions are now full. If you would like to be informed of future sessions before they are widely advertised, please register your interest using this link.

Please note, these sessions are subsidised by Torbay Council, and are therefore only available to children who live or go to school in Torbay.

Please note that the Learn to Ride sessions that are being held in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham are for children who live in (or go to school in) Torbay only.

There is a question on the form that asks you to confirm this and asks you not to continue with the booking if this is not the case.

Refunds can be issued to parents who have continued their bookings but unfortunately Eventbrite will deduct their booking fee, which is £1.55.

Two Wheels Tuition will again be running Learn to Ride sessions in the Easter Holidays for children in years 1 to 6 who are unable to ride a bike without stabilisers, or who need a little bit more confidence.

Only children that live or go to school in the Torbay Council area are eligible for these subsidised sessions.

We are running sessions at Torbay Velopark, Paignton (4 April), The Medway Centre, Torquay (5 April) and Scala Hall, Brixham (6 April).

We will be providing bikes and helmets. There will be a maximum of two pupils to each instructor.

Let us introduce you to our latest cycling superstars!

None of the children featured have been able to ride previously and whether it took them just minutes to learn or the whole session, they all did incredibly well. Be proud of yourselves everyone and happy cycling!

We’ll be back for more sessions during the summer holidays, so look out for details on Facebook around mid July.

Where did the time go!?! Our Easter Learn to Ride sessions are now at an end and with it, we thought we’d introduce you to some of those children from our sessions, who are now looking forward to some summer time, two wheeled fun! Well done to all and happy cycling!

Everyone tried really hard during our Holiday Club, this week and we thought you may like to see a small selection of our successful two wheeled superstars. Well done to everyone who joined us and we will be back for more during the summer break.

TOP, TOP tip for every parent....

Stabilisers can do many things, but if you’d like to fast track your child to cycling success or prepare them for one of our sessions then get rid of those stabilisers, remove the pedals (making it into a balance bike), take your time and let your child get used to freewheeling with legs in the air. It’s all about balance!!!

Torbay Council is once again delivering Adult Road Confidence Training.

The group sessions are FREE to adults who live or work in Torbay, and teach correct road positioning and how to cycle in traffic. We also cover how to ride with children.

This training benefits cyclists from beginner to regular group cyclists who may be nervous of cycling alone in traffic.

The sessions, which are run by National Standards Cycling Instructors, are friendly and informal with groups of no more than 6 riders to one instructor (5 until restrictions are lifted).
