After completing my 3 day First Aid course, I feel it is important to share with everyone this contraption. It is something I knew about, but didn’t realise it was available outside of the emergency services.

(Please be aware that video on the website is quite harrowing, but the baby survives).

I would be interested to know if any restaurants currently have one already as part of their First Aid kit?

Northern Lights At Saltburn Last Night

EDALE MOUNTAIN RESCUE CHARITY HIKE! £400 raised!

⏰ Meet up time 10:00am

⏳ 4 hours walk including a break.

🚗 Parking is available (CASH pay and display) at the Edale village Hall - S33 7ZQ. There is an overspill past the Penny Pot Cafe if it becomes full, and this is usually well signposted.

⛰️ 360 ° views for the entire walk. As it has rained, the last hill descent may be muddy and slippy!

🤑 Cost: T-Shirt was £8:00
💸 Donation: Was £5:00 💸

🗺️ 10.5-km loop trail near Castleton, Derbyshire. Generally considered a moderately challenging route

🐶 AFTERWARDS: 3pm Meet up with my Uncle John for a dog demo at Owler Bar, and vehicle tour 🤞🏼

🍻 Drinks at The Rambler after the hike, then food after the demo in Owler.

We are sad to have to say farewell to Search Dog Flash who was put to sleep last night after a short illness. Our thoughts are with John and his family at this time. Flash had been with John for fourteen years but her exact age was a bit of a mystery as she was adopted from a farm, however she was at least fifteen years old and lived a good life. Flash had been retired for the last few years and over her working life had made numerous finds. Including a Lady who had self harmed and whos life was saved by Flash finding her.

Like all good search dogs Flash was a bit of an independent character with a liking to explore her surroundings, with or without Johns knowledge. On one occasion when training in Scotland John received a phone call from a stranger to say Flash had been found several kilometers away. This came as a bit of a shock as John thought Flash was still in the back of his car. On another occasion whilst working her in the Upper Derwent Valley Flash disappeared over the horizon. Eventually to be returned to him on the back of the local farmers quad bike looking very pleased with herself. The farmer had been gathering sheep with his own dogs when Flash appeared and sat beside the farmer to see what was going on.

Stand down Flash, rest easy and thank you.

My Uncle has volunteered for them for over 30 years now. I hope none of you ever meet them (in the greatest of respect). If you do, call 999 & ask for Mountain Rescue.

On Sunday 25th we are hiking Edale Ridges (SPECTACULAR 360° views for the entire walk). Then, we have Dotty 🐕 & my uncle meeting us to do a rescue demonstration & show us around the emergency vehicle.

Across September, I usually do a fundraiser!

⛰ I am hoping to get people out hiking or walking, in groups, raising awareness for Edale Mountain Rescue & collecting donations to support their amazing work in the Peak District. My Uncle has volunteered for them, for over 30 years now. 🏅

As you are probably aware, I have a hiking group (RuralLizzy) & we shall be going out on various weekends in September, one being “Edale Skyline”. I shall also be dragging a bucket up & around Castleton if anyone wants to help me!!!!

Warning!!!!!! I discovered a tick feasting on my mid rif when I got home this evening. The bluebells might be out, but so are the ticks! Please take extra care and check yourself thoroughly after every walk to prevent the risk of Lyme disease.

* Tuck in socks/t-shirts
* Apply insect repellent with deet
* Thoroughly check after each walk
* Use a tick removal tool to remove any ticks, don't pull them
* Speak to your GP if you have concerns about a tick bite
