Working Holdiday visas for UK nationals (between 18 and 35 years of age)

UK passport holders applying for Working Holiday visas to live and work in Australia will, from 1 July 2024, be able to renew their one year working holiday visa on two further occassions giving 3 years total stay in Australia without having to complete "specified work" i.e. no requirement to complete periods of farm work/fruit picking.

Removal of ‘specified work’ requirements
To be eligible for a second or third Working Holiday visa applicants currently must show that they have done at least three or six months of ‘specified work’.

From 1 July 2024, UK passport holders, including those who previously entered Australia on a Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa using a different eligible passport (for example, from the Republic of Ireland), will not have to meet this requirement when applying for a second or third Working Holiday visa on or after this date.

This is a fantastic opportunity for UK passport holders between the age of 18 and 35 years to live and work in Australia for up to 3 years. Depending on the Working Holiday visa holder's work skills they might then be able to be sponsored by an employer (on a 482 Temporary Skills Shortage visa then a 186 Empoyer Nomination Scheme Permanent Residence visa for example) or they might have entered into a partner relationship with an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to access the Partner visa pathway to Permanent residence.

My comment is that 18-35 year olds are at a time in their lives where they often form permanent relationships (particularly where living and working in a foreign country for up to 3 years). If they enter into a genuine partner relationship with an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident there is a clear pathway towards Australian Citizenship. This includes same s*x partner relationships.

If you require advice or assistance on lodging a Working holiday visa application with the correct supporting evidence and are currently living in UK or Northern Ireland please message me to find out more.

Seize the opportunity now!
