The skills of stonemasons over 500 years ago still blows our minds. These examples are after up to 500 years of wear and weathering. Can you imagine some of the details at the time of carving.
Examples from the museum at Iona Abbey.
Sand Eel Bay on Iona is a great place to have a beautiful sheltered beach all to yourself, and if you fancy it while in Scotland... a great place for a wee swim 😊
There is something stirring in the deep dark waters near Falkirk...
On a vacation, occasionally, things do not go according to plan.
Today, we look back at how one of our previous guests 'Gregor' coped when his luggage decided it wanted a different destination to him.
The beauty of Scotland can only be matched by the warmth we feel from the guests we share it with.
Meet our current visitors from Spain & Venezuela, enjoying being part of Scotlands beauty ❤️.
If you know where this is, you will know that it's been the ruin of makeup for many 😆.

Often, when we visit locations, it is difficult to take time to read the memorials, but sometimes they hold a story that will touch your heart, as with this one at St. Conans Kirk
'In the loved memory of Ian Alastair Campbell of Barcaldine - Lieut 2nd Batt Gordon Highlanders, mortaly wounded at the close of the victory of Elandslaagte while giving water to a wounded foe.

Tainted From Birth.
Certain characteristics of Scottish clans/families over the centuries became part of our culture, even leading to prayers like the once 'well known' one below.
"From the pride of the Grahams.
From the greed of the Campbells.
From the wind of the Murrays.
From the anger of the Drummonds.
The good Lord deliver us, Amen."
In Scotland you were born into a name which often instantly presumed you had certain traits.
But worse still, for decades if you were born a MacGregor that was punishable by death, from your very first breath.
Scotland's history is colourful yet violent, however some of the nicest people I have met were born with a name we were taught to avoid and never trust.
We have come a long way, and for that I am grateful.

Family Trips 😊
Our last 4 tours, two of which lasted more than two weeks each, have been with families and have had many coincidences.
Each family has had 2 children, we started with older children and with each tour the children have gotten younger and younger.
There were the Stewarts from Texas, the Campbells from Texas, the Davenports from California and now the Fukudas from California 😊.
There are tour companies who turn away groups with kids and I firmly believe they bring and energy and sense of adventure that make a tour more magical & exciting.
As well as the firm belief that the rustling in the trees could in fact be fairies watching us all 😊.
The Neolithic age in Scotland was between 6,000 & 4,500 year ago was a time when people in Scotland began to settle down, start farming, and build permanent houses.
We are lucky enough in Scotland to have some of these houses perfectly preserved, complete with furniture at the enchanting Skara Brae on Orkney.
Way older than the pyramids in Egypt and even older than Stonehenge.
Skara Brae is a true Little Scottish Treasure and worth visiting if you have time in your schedule, it's truely one of our favourites.
'All that we build mother nature will eventually claim back.'
On a rare day off from touring yesterday we took a visit to a local little treasure slowly being reclaimed by the forest around it.
Abandoned derelict buildings have an untamed beauty that we truely love.
Today Scotland get to open the UEFA 2024 championship against Germany....
Let's see if we can do what we done the last time we opened a huge football event, 'World Cup, France 1998' against Brazil...
We scored two goals, Brazil only scored one.
No Scotland, no party.

Take some time to visit Castle Campbell if you get the chance.
You may get the place to yourselves as it is still a Little Scottish Treasure well away from the usual tourist routes.
We usually carry a selection of fine single malt Scotch whisky on tour, which as you can see from Jamie's recent tour can attract attention from the locals, even of the 4 legged variety 😊.
Neil Ross - he can train dogs, hypnotise sheep, birth cattle, entertain the masses and in this case, strike a pose worthy of a shepherding calendar.
When travelling in Scotland, please remember to pause and take a moment to let all this history, culture and landscape soak in.
For those who ask. "What is the weather like on Skye in June"...
Two pictures... yesterday & today. This is what the weather is like on Skye in June.
A tour with Little Scottish Treasures often takes you well away from the tourist books, on an adventure of local legends, culture and curiosities 😊

Beneath the velvety cloak of a star-studded winter sky, a symphony of silence and serenity unfolds, casting its spell over the snow-kissed landscape. Welcome to a Scottish winter with Little Scottish Treasures.
There are plenty of places in Scotland to loose yourself, like this area in Argyll. 150 separate Neolithic monuments within the 6 mile radius of Kilmartin, just be careful which ones you walk among 😉.
Take a man to a Scottish Glen and he is happy, however let him borrow a kilt for the day and the effects are priceless.
Join us for a walk along one of the thousands of beaches which line the Scottish shores. Feel the wind in your hair, listen to the energy of the waves and smile as you know, that this is the moment you worked so hard to one day enjoy.
Just remember folks, when you leave your house in the morning, before heading off to work, look back and ensure your home is secure. We don't want any pesky armies breaking in while we are out.
I hope you enjoy this little teaser, of a new project by Little Scottish Treasures.
Fowlis Wester. This 8th century carved standing stone has a multitude of Pictish and Christian carvings. This is the rear of the stone, see how many of these features you can make out. At the top there is a large double disc and Z-rod flying above a large horse (with disproportionately small head) and rider trotting to the left. An equally large hound pads along below the horseman, accompanied by two small hounds, and below again are two horse-riders side by side, all facing left. Beneath the horses a figure in a long tunic leads a cow with a bell round its neck, followed by six armed warriors marching abreast. The basal part of the panel is occupied by a crescent and V-rod with spiral decoration, a large bird and a monster devouring a human figure, along with smaller motifs. The front carvings can be seen in the comments on the post. #FowlisWester #pictish #standingstone #celtic #magicaltours #scotland
