It’s looking like the weather over the next few days is going to be good.
If you’re heading to Burntisland Fairground over the weekend or to the Burntisland Highland Games on Monday, please remember that the town will be very busy.
Plan ahead where you can and make sure your day out is as stress free as possible so you can get on with the fun stuff.
🚌Check what public transport is available at www.traveline.com and use the bus or train if you can. Burntisland train station is within walking distance and there’s plenty of bus stops nearby too.
🅿️If you need to bring your car, parking is available on Haugh Road. Please follow the signs or speak to the stewards for directions. Parking costs £2 and all the money raised will be donated to the local resident's association to support the work they do in town.
♿️Blue badge holders can park for free at Links Place car park.
⛔️Don’t park on the grassy area at the Links. It’s a busy area with lots of kids going about and you also could block access for emergency services.
⚠️If you’re parking elsewhere make sure your vehicle is within the bay if there is one, don’t double park or block access to driveways or pavements, other vehicles or the emergency services.
🍔There’ll be hot food stalls if you fancy a burger or other snacks to keep you going, or you can bring your own picnic.
🚮But please dispose of any leftovers or packaging responsibly – use the bins provided. Bins will be emptied regularly but with so many visitors they might fill up again quickly. If you find a bin is full, look for another one or take what you can home with you. Don’t feed the gulls!
🚾Extra toilets are available next to the public toilets at Links Place – please help keep them clean! There’s baby changing facilities and disabled toilets there too. And there’s more toilets at the other end of the fairground.
🐕If you bring your dog, you must clean up after them and keep them on a leash. Remember, this is a busy, noisy place so please consider if this is the best place for them. Dogs shouldn’t be left in vehicles.
🌤The sun might come out, so be prepared! Make sure you’ve got sunscreen, sunglasses and hats – for you and the kids!
So, if you’re heading through to Burntisland this long weekend, our message is a simple one - use some common sense, be considerate and do what you’d expect of others! And have a brilliant time! 😁
