Ian, Diana, Debbie, and the entire Crystal Classics team would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who attended and participated in our Winter Open Day last Saturday.

Despite the challenging weather brought by Storm Darragh, we were delighted with the fantastic turnout at our showroom in East Coker, Somerset. The response to our latest collection acquisitions was phenomenal, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who made a purchase.

Later in the day, we hosted our latest Instagram Live Show, and once again, we were amazed by the incredible response. The Midnight Oil pocket release from UK Mining Ventures was particularly popular, and we sincerely thank everyone who added a specimen to their collection.

Among the highlights are specimens from the Florence Mine, such as a gorgeous blue Fluorite on Hematite, an aesthetic Calcite on Hematite, and a striking Smoky Quartz on Specularite Hematite.

For today’s Winter Open Day preview, we’re showcasing a sensational selection of specimens from the classic Cornish locality, the Herodsfoot Mine.

Renowned for its exceptional “cogwheel” Bournonites, we are offering three outstanding examples from the Malcolm Southwood collection, along with an excellent Tetrahedrite with Chalcopyrite and Quartz.

Arguably the most intriguing piece in the selection is a Calcite on Siderite on Baryte specimen. Crystallized Baryte is incredibly rare from this locality, and any doubts about its origin are dispelled by the late 19th-century typed label affixed to the specimen: “Carbonate of lime, Chalybite, Barytes. Herodsfoot Mine near Liskeard.” Truly, a Herodsfoot rarity!

These remarkable specimens will be available as part of our website update, which goes live at 10.30 a.m. However, for the best chance to secure one, make sure to attend our Winter Open Day, which begins at 10.00 a.m.

The countdown is on! This Saturday (Dec 7), we’re excited to welcome you to our Winter Open Day, where you’ll have the chance to explore the incredible Malcolm Southwood Collection, released exclusively for this event.

To give you a taste of what’s in store, we’ll be showcasing a series of highlights from the collection throughout the week. Today, we’re starting with some truly exceptional specimens from the Virtuous Lady Mine in Buckland Monachorum, Devon. Renowned among collectors, this mine is best known for its striking Siderite pseudomorphs, often called “Lady’s Slippers.” From the teasers, you can see we have some stunning examples to share!

These pieces will be featured in our website update from 10.30 am on the day. However, the best way to secure your favourite is by attending our Winter Open Day in person, where doors open at 10.00 am.
