The Thursley National Nature Reserve at 325 hectares is one of the largest remaining fragments of heathland in Surrey. It is managed by Natural England, with the support from the Friends of Thursley wardens.

The reserve has extensive areas of open dry heathland, peat bogs, pine and deciduous woodlands. Discover, 20 species of dragonflies and damselflies who live around the open ponds and ditches of the reserve as well as an array of birds which include Dartford warblers, stone chats, long-tailed t**s, gold crests, red starts, white throats and wheatears.

The Nature Reserve is easy to navigate as there is over 1.3 kilometres of boardwalk** with viewing platforms, giving access to otherwise inaccessible wetter parts of the reserve. You’ll also discover an eye-catching 1.2 x 1.6m sculpture of a dragonfly landing on a former electricity pylon.
