GT3 is a hugely successful category in modern racing and in 2025, its 20th year, it is the undisputed king of GT racing around the world. Pretty much every major supercar manufacturer builds, or has built, GT3 cars.

Historic Touring Car Challenge: Touring Cars of the ‘70s and ‘80s

Dates: 1969-1989
Requirements: Touring cars of Group 2 and Group 5, and Group A up to 1990
Key marques: BMW, Ford, Rover
Race: 60 minutes

The HTCC offers an opportunity to see wild ‘70s tourers like the BMW 3.0 CSL “Batmobile” and Ford “Cologne” Capri face their descendants, like the BMW E30 M3 and Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500.

Tony Dron Trophy: Bruising 1970s Touring Cars

Dates: Pre-1982
Requirements: Group 1 and Group 1 ½ touring cars
Key marques: Ford, Rover, VW
Race: 60 minutes

Tony Dron, after whom the trophy is named, was twice a British Saloon Car Champion and head and shoulders above his competition. Literally – he was six feet five inches tall.

Requirements: Touring cars, engine capacity under-2 litres
Key marques: Alfa Romeo, BMW, Ford, Lotus
Race: 2x 40 minutes

U2TC, which stands for Under-2 litre Touring Cars, features some truly iconic cars of the 1960s, including the Lotus Cortina and Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA.

Royal Automobile Pall Mall Cup: Endurance Racing from the 1960s

Dates: Pre-1966 (GT, touring car); Pre-1961 (sports racing cars)
Spec: GT and touring cars, sports racing cars, period specification
Key marques: AC, Ford, Jaguar, Lotus
Race: Three hours

The Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup is a premium historic endurance race, unique in its format. Three-hour races mean multi-driver entries, and the race is always followed by a paddock party.
