She's only gone and done it again 😅 my good lady held the po***ck record for most of the year until recently when regular customer phil landed a cracking 12lb fish... sorry phil, an hour into today's trip she's blown your record out the water. Weighed on digital scales she went 15.8lbs 🤯 the fish was quickly put in a mesh sling and back in the water to recover, a couple of photos then carefully returned 😀 caught 30 yards from the varses rocks off the manacals on a 50g lure rod. She's some girl, very proud 👏 💙

Days later and I'm still in awe of this 12lb reef caught po***ck caught by my last guest Phil. Already a very experienced shore angler, I just gave phil a few pointers on reading the navionics screen, paying attention to those long thin sand gulleys between the reef boulders and how to 'feel' the lure down accurately to reduce snagging the reef. Sure enough on the 5th cast or so this fish inhaled a 62g Sandy Andy a couple of feet off the deck at the foot of a huge submerged boulder. Initially phil assumed he had hooked the reef until the 'reef' started stripping line 😅 what a fight on a 40g spinning rod in 35 foot of water 💥

This style of fishing requires a lot of concentration and a meticulous approach and phil had both on the day, one of the plus points of booking a charter for 2 guests maximum is I can help and advise guests about sections of the reef, how and more importantly, when to fish them.

Still got a few weeks to go but I'm already pencilling it in as fish of the season, well done Phil 👏 ✔️ 👍

Great trip today with repeat guests, father and son Phil and Henry. We headed round Coverack way as manacals was unfishable with wind over a big tide. Still fairly tricky conditions in a small boat but loads of fish caught between them both including a stunning 12lb+ po***ck caught on a light lure set up just 100 yards from the shore in 40 feet of water 🙂 what a scrap! Well done fellas, not easy conditions and definitely credit due 👏

A great time of year for specimen fish on the reefs, some spaces available in November, get in touch ✌️

Quick dash up to the Dodman this morning on a freezer filling mission between yesterday's gale and this afternoons gale. 8kg of fish wasn't too bad. Could have done with another 2 hours but could feel that nor easterly freshening to a 4 or 5 so played it safe, got in, got out, got home safe 🙏 westin sandys in white smashed it 🙂✌️

Ever since I was a young'un and a small porbeagle shark got delivered to my dads fish shop in penryn I have been intrigued and fascinated by sharks. Today I am starting a campaign to bring a large UK shark to the boat to see one of these amazing fish alive and up close. I'm relatively new to sea fishing and in particular shark fishing but I'm a firm believer that persistence and attention to detail pays off. Most likely today will result in a blank trip but if we don't try we don't know...

Regular customer and now good friend Tony playing a very nice blue shark in the 80lb to 90lb bracket on his late 80s/early 90s Diawa Sensor 50lb class boat rod and reel combo. We all fall foul of the 'must have the latest', but I get so much enjoyment putting Tony on the sharks, seeing his wonderfully cared for vintage set up being put through its paces 🙂 next time watch your drag setting and don't get your fingers crushed against the gunwals 🤭🫡

The Gear Farm Farmers hit the jackpot today!! Was really fortunate to get this trip in today with the big south westerly blow forecast but these guys booked their trip a long time ago so really wanted to get them out and on the fish 🙂 conditions towards the end were borderline so a fairly short trip.

Tom and Jackson had only really ever caught a few mackerel from their own boat and wanted to expand their knowledge and understanding of sea angling. They knew the area so we refined our time to showing them some very basic rigs and techniques that they could then apply to their own boat angling. I explained you don't need the 'next best £10 lure' to catch decent sized fish, they are their to catch the angler in the shop more than anything.

Tom and Jackson went away with a 16.5kg haul of fish to take back to Gear Farm for the family 😋 loads of fish were returned to grow on for next year. Considering they had only really done hand lining for mackerel they completely knocked this one out the park!! Well done lads, I also expect a free pasty next time I'm on your side of the river! 🥳

My charters are centered around guidance and tuition, I get a lot from passing on the few bits and bobs of information I have picked up down the years from trial and error, listening to some very good anglers, and reading a lot of the old school sea fishing books from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Anyone looking to expand their knowledge on sea angling just give me a shout...

A really special trip today that I have been trying to do for 3 years... finally got my good lady her first encounter with the stunning blue sharks off the coast of Falmouth 🙂 with 3 jobs between us and 2 dogs it has been so difficult to find time when the conditions were suitable. Finally the stars aligned and we set off for a half day excursion. I did not expect the absolute carnage of 10 sharks to the boat in 3 crazy hours 😬 a new record for ORCA of numbers of fish to the boat and a new personal best for myself, after a 20-30 minute battle on light gear a shark estimated around the 120lb mark 😁 I couldn't ask for a better crew, Robyn boated 5 sharks up to 80lb like a seasoned pro 💙 we were lucky enough to encounter multiple tuna bust ups all around us and more flying dolphins than I can ever remember seeing! What a day.

I have some chum left in the freezer and some dates left in August and September, if you want a day to remember just give me a shout!
