It’s Puffin season till late July so still plenty of time to see them. A few puffin facts for you …
⭐️A baby puffin is called a puffling
⭐️They grow to just under 30cm tall
⭐️Puffins can see UV light, making their beaks glow
⭐️Their colourful beaks turn dark in winter
⭐️They eat small squid, herring and sardines
⭐️Puffins are nicknamed 'clowns of the sea'
⭐️They can swim to a depth of 60 metres.

Exactly 0.4 miles from The White Eagle is Traeth Borth Wen (Rhoscolyn Beach). A beautiful secluded beach with stunning views. The perfect place to de-stress and unwind before a wander up to our sun-trap beer garden🍻

Dark and clear skies here tonight … so lucky that we were able to see the Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights.

So many beautiful beaches on Anglesey to explore… this one is going to the top of my list!

Traeth Llydan (AKA Silver Bay) this is somewhat hidden & not so easy to reach as there’s no public road access. On foot it’s reached along the from or from Bryn y Bar down along the boardwalk through the dunes for a “surprise view” as this stretch of golden sands reveals itself. The beach is protected by a small pine forest & sand dunes which provide the perfect backdrop . On the headland at its eastern end a stone building “stands guard” over Cymyran Bay, this is the Bodior Bathing House.

Rhosneigr is superb for walking on the beach, with rocky outcrops and dramatic sand dunes. You are spoilt for choice with three fantastic eateries on the same side of the road!

What a day…. Anglesey Show and Showground lots to do and see. The weather has been fab and lots of smiles all round. We will be back next year!

A star gazers treat… fingers crossed not too much cloud cover this weekend. ✨

The Perseid meteor shower peaks this weekend! ☄️⁣

The fragments come from comet Swift-Tuttle and creates one of best meteor showers of the year. Also, the peak of the shower this year coincides with the darker skies of the new Moon. 🌑 ⁣

While meteors will be visible throughout August, numbers rise significantly between 9 and 16 August, and up to 100 meteors an hour could be visible on the nights of 12 – 13 August. ⁣
⁣
Head outside and enjoy one of the best cosmic shows of the year. 🔭⁣

Worth a visit come rain or shine 😊

Our museum and shop are open seven days a week, 10am-4pm.
You do not have to book ahead and you do not have to visit the museum if you only want the shop. We are also dog friendly in both the shop and museum.🐩🐕🦮🐕‍🦺
