The Last Invasion of Britain – Fishguard, 1797! 🇫🇷⚔️
Did you know that the last invasion of mainland Britain happened right here in Pembrokeshire? In February 1797, a French force landed near Fishguard, hoping to stir up rebellion… but things didn’t go to plan!

Local hero Jemima Nicholas, armed with just a pitchfork, is said to have captured several French soldiers single-handedly. The invasion quickly fell apart, and within two days, the French surrendered at the Royal Oak pub in Fishguard. 🍻

Each year, the town celebrates this remarkable moment in history with National The Last Invasion Day – a reminder of Pembrokeshire’s unique place in Britain’s past! 🏴‍☠️
