TODLINS

Todlins Music and Dance is a Fun friendly musical session for children and their carers Singing and Todlins is not intended as a serious music lesson.

Chloe comes from an education background, and was heavily involved in music of all types pre children - Jazz and silver bands, Gospel choirs etc! The aim is to have fun, singing together, being noisy together, clapping, stamping, shaking together and also having a quiet time. You mustn't worry that your child is not sitting attentively all the time, let the children express their individuality, as

long as they are not hurting themselves or others that is fine by me. Not a week goes by without a new 'little star' shining through only to find the following week they refuse to join in point blank!! All Tod’lins groups are run as mixed aged sessions 6 months - 5years, (although younger siblings are welcome to come along; and during the holidays we open up to older children too - no one wants to miss out!)

There is no registration fee and you are welcome to ‘drop in’ at any of the groups as often or little as you wish. There is no commitment required. We are all aware of our good intentions of getting out of the house in the morning only to find a nappy needs changing, or a lost shoe needs finding or that our little one is having an ‘off’ day. Why should you lose out having had to pre-book a term's sessions. For this reason I can never be sure of exact numbers, however, it is unusual to exceed 25 children, and where this does happen consistently we aim to start an additional class.

Hello all! I’m sorry for the lack of updates… In all honesty nothing has really changed in terms of starting up again.

However I have hope that I’ll be able to run outdoor mini tours in the summer holidays.. I’m just sorting out the details.

I have also made the rather sad decision that I will not be restarting ‘normal’ weekly classes in September. After such a difficult 18 months I really need some financial stability and so have taken a maternity teaching cover. I’m hoping that I’ll still do some pop up sessions and so will leave this page open for updates!

Hello to you all! My messages have been going mad this week -everyone wants to know about classes restarting.

Currently there are still restrictions in place for numbers, singing inside and sharing of equipment. Some of my halls aren’t reopening and others not until June. For me to be financially viable I either need to run big classes or to double my fees and insist on prepaying and block booking.

So for the time being I’ve decided to just run my ‘tours’ held at the Cornish camel centre. I will advertise them on this page and hope to run them in the holidays and potentially during June and July also.

Unfortunately because I get people who book on and then don’t show up I will be asking for payment in advance via PayPal/bank transfer.

Go Past Goonhilly Earth Station on your right, at the next crossroads turn left sign posted Helford and Manaccan, then take first right and follow lane over 2 cattle grids. Camel Centre is on your right.

Firstly I just want to say that my priority over finally having some fun with the children is covid safety. I test twice a week and will test on Friday morning. If you have any symptoms please please do not come.

Please arrive in time to register, pay, check in with the covid QR code and grab yourself something yummy from the takeaway café.

Please bring a mask; you’ll be asked to wear it just for the café area, toilets and whilst we sing. I’ll provide hand sanitizer and will ask everyone to use it on arrival

Payment- we don’t have very good internet access at the venue usually so unfortunately you will need to pay cash. To avoid too much swapping of money could you please bring as much change as you can ( I know real money seems a thing of the past theses days!). I will be using Dettol spray on any money handed in so hopefully I’ve got any possible spread of infection covered here!!

The fee is £5 per child irrespective of age and adults are free.

The café prices
Hot drinks £1.00, squash 50p,cakes £1.50 and Easter cupcakes £1.00.
Preordered loaf cakes £4.50

Please bring with you your own reusable drinks container as there will be limited takeaway cups ( lots of people bring Tupperware to take some cakes home in to!).

We will take an Easter walk around the farm, it could be muddy so please be prepared. Ideally we can spread adults out and stick to 2m as much as possible.

Music session. I cannot provide any props so if you can please bring a musical instrument, scarf (tea towels will do) and something to shake ( musical shaker/pom-poms/ homemade shaker- there is a video on my page of how to do this!)

You’ll also need something to sit on- cushion in a plastic bag, picnic rug etc ( again I can’t supply my usual carpet tiles)

We have toilet and changing facilities available.

At the end of the session we will walk back to the carpark (where café located) and you’ll be given takeaway craft.

I am very aware that this is not how I usually do it but I can promise lots of fun in a covid safe way.

I do have a couple of spaces free on a first come first served basis.

I’m planning the cakes for next weeks mini Easter tour.... would anyone be interested if I made and sold some whole cakes? Thinking loaf cakes as easiest to transport. Chocolate( with mini eggs)/lemon drizzle/lime and coconut/coffee and walnut. They would be £4.50 each and I’d need them to be preordered by Wednesday at very latest.

EASTER MINI TOUR

The venue ( Cornish camel centre) is all booked, I have a track and trace QR code in place and ready to go and each session will have no more than 14 over 5’s ( plus me).

This event is outside (egg trail) with a under cover ( but open sided) area for music session. Unfortunately no equipment will be shared so I will write a suggested list of things you could bring to join in with nearer the time!

There will be a takeaway cafe serving hot drinks and cakes, to keep waste to a minimum we would love it if you could bring your own reusable mugs. ( These will be placed onto a tray and not touched by anyone but you!)

More information will follow but if you have messaged directly or commented on the post and I have liked or loved it then I have you booked on. Prior to the event if you have had any COVID-19 symptoms please please do not come.

As numbers are so limited if you don’t think you’ll make it please let me know ASAP so I can offer your place to someone else.

It’s been 11 months since my last face to face proper Todlins session! Can you believe it?! There is a little flash of light I see on the horizon! From 29th March mother and toddler groups can meet outside with 15 adults ; so potentially that’s me and 14 of you! Hypothetically would you be interested in a outside mini Todlins on Tour for Easter? I’m thinking egg hunt and out door singing session? With craft you could take home to do? Let me know your thoughts?! Edited ...and cake!! Obviously cake!

How is everyone? I think of you all often and hope you and your little ones are safe and well! No new information about Todlins I’m afraid; currently my venues are closed until Christmas. I’ve been teaching full time covering sick leave; continuing until half term which is why I haven’t arranged any outdoor sessions.. who knows what November will bring!! Lots of love Chloe

As many of you know along side Todlins I do supply teaching; which is currently my only income. I had hoped to run a Todlins session outside next Wednesday but unfortunately I’ve been asked to do 2 full weeks teaching which I really need to say yes to! If you are interested in an impromptu session please dm me starting with yes please and I will contact you as soon as I can to book something in! It might be a bit short notice but I’m really hopeful we can do something soon!

The new government rule of 6 does not apply to playgroups. With this in mind I shall be looking at running a session/s outside on Wednesday 23rd. This will include music and dance and a nature walk. You’ll need to bring your own blanket to sit on and I will not be providing any props unfortunately. Sessions will be limited numbers and prebook/pay ( which will be non refundable unless I have to cancel). More details to follow but if you are interested please could you comment below whether you would like morning or afternoon session and what start time suits... I expect session to last approximately 1hr15/30

For those who are meeting at 10 on Poldhu beach tomorrow.... please please remember that we must keep socially distanced! I will bring hand sanitiser and suggest you do to! We will have a wander on the beach and then hopefully find an area we can sit well spaced out( bring your own picnic blankets) I will bring music and sign... please remember this isn’t a Todlins session so it’ll just be a few songs. If you wish to stay for a coffee Poldhu Beach Cafe does great coffee and Hot chocolate. You’ll need cash for the car park and card only for the cafe!

I will be on Poldhu beach from 10 for a wander in the sand, song or two in the Dunes and coffee Poldhu Beach Cafe.

This is NOT a Todlins session but a chance to get to(1m apart)gether; I’d like to bring my music and sing a few songs but we will need to be distanced and sadly no props ( although you could bring it our own instruments if you promise not to share !)

The beach and there are toilets which are open.

If you are coming please let me know and I will try and make cake for all!

There won’t be a charge; it would just be lovely to see you all!

I can hardly believe I’m saying it but it’s SEPTEMBER next week! Normally I’d be busy gathering together my equipment and cleaning it all ready to start the new term... sadly this years going to be a little different.

For many reasons I’ve made the difficult decision not to reopen in September... I will DEFINITELY be back but I have no idea when! So I’m going to make the decision 1/2 termly.

Currently some of my venues are closed, singing is still not really allowed and the logistics of avoiding cross contamination with a bunch of preschoolers is far from funny! Obviously whilst I’m not working I’m also not earning so I really need to make sure that I’m available for supply teaching as much as possible, which is why I shall look at reopening every half term. In all honesty I don’t anticipate reopening until Christmassy the earliest. I would LOVE to think that we can run Todlins on tour for Christmas but who knows!
Since I last saw you there have been babies born, many missed birthday scrunchies and sadly I was unable to say a special goodbye to all the school starters. It’s been strange to say the least; however hopefully everyone is safe and well and that’s what’s most important!

I am also wondering about possibly organising a little nature walk where we could get together outside for a few hours in small groups ( this would be free ) so let me know if you are interested! Miss you all, Chloe x

Hello All! Im so sorry that there havent been any Todlins online sessions! In truth I find standing in front of the camera extremly uncomfortable and it makes me anxious! However I have also been home schooling 3 children as well as maintaining as normal a life as possible; whilst painting the house and doing a garden makeover to keep me sane! I miss you all hugely and the 'unknown' aspect of this situation means that I have no idea when I will be back with you. There are some children who I suspect will begin school with out a fairwell from Todlins. I find the best way to deal with the life we find ourselves living is day to day and so I havent got any start dates I can give you. It will be impossible to socially distance safely however so I am not anticipating restarting before September at the earliest. I promise however that I will put another session up online next week - and i hope in the mean time you are watching the old ones lots! Love to you all Chloe x

I promise new video soon but in the mean time Charlie and I topped up the biscuit tin this morning with Cornish fairings and oat and golden syrup biscuits.. both recipes were from bbc good food website ( fairings are called ginger fairings on there)
