Here are our stargazing highlights during May! This bank holiday weekend is the peak of the Eta-Aquarids meteor shower, best seen in the early hours. Mid-month there will be some fantastic bright passes of the ISS, and we plan to live-stream the Clair Obscur effect known as the "Face in Albategnius" using our telescope on the 15th of May (weather permitting). We wish you all clear skies and a fab weekend!

After the storm, a moment of tranquil beauty today. Breathtaking views from our Hawthorn Hut overlooking Derwent Reservoir on a sun-kissed day with boats dotting the water in the distance. We're all set to welcome our next guests to this idyllic retreat.

Here at Herdman Huts we are passionate about looking after the land. We are doing our bit for the environment and are involved in the process of regenerative farming meaning that our livestock get the freshest, most sweetest grazing areas using the mob-grazing system, whereby we move them to different areas of the field daily, thus giving the fields a chance to recover and regrow before rotating.
We are new to this system but it seems to be working well for us and we can see a massive improvement on our land and livestock

Last night we did a spot of stargazing in our garden as it was such a clear night.
We have a simple telescope and we managed to see the moon, jupiter and saturn and millions of stars ✨🌎🪐🌚🌔
I just took these photos on my phone which definatley don't do it justice!
