Today was supposed to be our first rockpool safari of the season - but the weather was slightly wild 🌊
We have rescheduled for Thursday and hoping the weather is slightly calmer 🤞🏼 #happysunday
We have a winner 🙌🏼
Congratulations to Lucy Parker, your number was selected completely at random by Orkney ❄️
A huge thank you to everyone who got involved, we will more of them in the future 🎄
A very Merry Christmas to all of our lovely supporters, whatever you’re doing we hope you have a lovely, peaceful today and we look forward to seeing lots of you in the New Year 🦀
Lots of love from The Scilly rockpool safari family 🌊

Another little dose of island life for you all 🌊
Happy Friday all 🙌🏼 #islandlife
A little dose of island sunshine and relaxation for you all ~ I hope you have managed to find some time for yourself today and had a moment in nature 🌊 #happytuesday
A little throwback to the summer- we were heading back to St Mary’s after going to Bishop Rock lighthouse to see the red-footed booby 🌊
The kids and I were all horrifically sea sick but this pod of exuberant common dolphins made our day and we completely forgot how ill we all felt 🐬
Happy Fri-yay all, I hope over the weekend you feel like these dolphins 🙌🏼 #friyay
We have been blown away with the love our clothing has received and all the orders, you guys rock 🙌🏼
A little clip for you all of my favourite crab species, the long-legged spider crab 🦀
Would you know this was a crab if you were out rockpooling, or would you think it was a piece of seaweed? 🌊 #heyfriend
Something VERY exciting happened to us Tuesday- we discovered five beautiful Fiona pinnata without a goose barnacle colony, along with ten Columbus crabs 🦀
For our nudi obsessed family this was absolutely mega! It is a species we have always searched for but never found, it is also the first record for Scilly and 8th record in Britain 🙌🏼
They live their whole life cycle amongst goose barnacle colonies and we found lots of egg masses as well which looked like spiralled roses. Unfortunately, the colony, nudis and crabs can not survive in our waters as they will have travelled from the tropical waters of the Sargasso Sea. But at least they washed up somewhere where they were appreciated 🌊
A huge thank you to Dave and Sarah from Scilly Sea Safaris who phoned to let us know about the goose barnacles. When we are back from our holiday, the beers will be on us 🙌🏼

For your viewing pleasure; this stunningly beautiful long-legged spider crab that we found yesterday 🦀
A master of disguise and in my opinion one of the best camouflaged rockpool creatures of all time - we absolutely love them - enjoy 🌊 #masterofdisguise

Yesterday we had a very wet and windy rockpool safari but it did not stop us from finding lots of wonderful marine animals including an arctic cowrie and 5 species of starfish ⭐️
Our group were absolutely awesome and even when it was pouring down with rain they wanted to continue and James our youngest safari goer on the day didn’t complain once - it was quite an experience and goes to show come rain or shine there are always fascinating things to be found 🌊

What an incredibly fun morning we had with Tresco & Bryher & St Agnes school today 👣
The find of the day was by Joseph who found an egg case containing a small-spotted catshark 🦈 and whilst enjoying our picnic we had a red kite fly over us which was quite spectacular!
The children found lots of exciting things and were already so knowledgeable with lots of facts to share. They were great at being careful and considerate with each creature we found which was lovely to see. 🦀
Thank you so much for having us and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did 🌊

A throwback to last summer, rockpooling on St Agnes 🌊
We found this long-legged spider crab which is a common find for us during the summer. But this was the first time we have witnessed this behaviour which was very exciting!
This little dance is something they do to deter predators and it was extraordinary to see 🦀 #funfacts

Wow! Today was our first ever collaboration with Scilly Ceramics and it’s safe to say it was a HUGE success ⭐️
We had an awesome group of people who made the day so much fun and we did it all in the gorgeous sunshine 🌞
We found lots of amazing marine animals including solar-powered sea slugs (thank you Issac you legend) three species of starfish, European eel and lots of other fascinating things 🦀
We then enjoyed freshly baked pasty’s from Hugh Street cafe on the beach where we were joined by the Porthcressa sea ducks and then strolled up to the pottery to get glazing 🦆
I cannot wait to see what all the starfish look like after they’ve been in the kiln, we will be sure to share the after photos when we’ve collected them on Tuesday ⭐️
Keep an eye out for a new date for another collab with Scilly Ceramics 🐚

We have had such a brilliant weekend of rockpool safaris 🐚
Arctic cowries, small cushion stars, solar-powered sea slugs (absolutely awesome!!!), common starfish (which aren’t so common here), Cornish clingfish and so much more 🦞
We have met so many lovely people who were all so enthusiastic and made it so much fun 🦀
Here is to a few more days of great low tides! 🌊
We found another new nudi species!! ⭐️
These guys are Limacia clavigera also known as orange-clubbed sea slugs and just look at how beautiful they are. They were just under 1cm long, but grow up to 2cm, so pretty tiny!
I cannot believe that not only did we find a nudibranch species we haven’t seen before, but we found two together!
That’s the most exciting part about rockpooling- you never know what you might find and every now and then, you stumble across absolute gems like these.
If you fancy coming on a rockpooling safari with us, we still have some spaces for this weekend - you can book online via our website (link at the top of the page) we can’t wait to see you on one soon 🦀 #rockpooling
Nudibranch!
This little guy was the absolute highlight of our rockpool safari yesterday.
At only 1cm long (they do grow slightly bigger) this nudibranch species, Facelina annulicornis was the first we have ever found!! I am not joking when I say the excitement was next level.
This particular species is only the second official record for St Mary’s!
I hope you enjoy watching this video as much as we do- just look at how wondrously beautiful it is 💙
