You will be missed, what a great pub serving fantastic food
** ANNOUNCEMENT **
The time has come to let you all know that Eric, our boys including our adopted child Pablo and I will be leaving the Game C**k from the 31st August 2023.
It hasnât been an easy decision, the Game C**k and itâs success has been our main priority over the past 16 years, and 23 years for Eric as head chef. But now itâs time to get a bit of a life/ work balance and have some time as a family with our sons.
Weâd like to say a big thank you to both Erics family and my family for all your help over the years, without your help, love and support it wouldnât have been possible. To most of our past and present fabulous employees, the pub could not have run to the standard it did without your work and dedication, to Thwaites for your support over the years and our numerous awards, to our awesome suppliers who have ensured we have only received the highest of quality produce over the years, and last but not least to you, our wonderful customers! With out your loyal custom, the Game C**k wouldnât have become the success it is, after so many years.
We are going to be very sad to say goodbye.
The Game C**k brought Eric and I together, the arrival of our sons, our wedding, huge refurbishments, the funerals of old friends,stag doâs and hen doâs and wedding receptions and birthdays of friends old and new. Weâve made life long friends that we never would have met had we not had The Game C**k.
More recently there has been a few more downs then ups taking us through a global pandemic, although this still wasnât without its upsides as it brought the birth of the Patisserie which has been a huge success. The takeaways throughout the lockdowns brought out the more local of our customers who we wouldnât have been so lucky to have met and got to know had it not been for Covid and spending the time stood under that gazebo in horizontal rain, wind and freezing temperatures and the occasional sunshine.
And finally Brexit⊠enough said!!
This announcement will hopefully firstly stop the rumours that have been going around for the past 2 years, but mainly give our customers their chance to come and see us again before we leave in 6 months time. We have been booking up fast for the next 6 months, so donât leave it too long before you book!
For those of you that have been gifted a voucher, it will only be valid until the 31st August so donât miss your chance to come and spend it.
We will continue to serve our food at the high quality you have become accustomed to until our last plate is served.
We will of course be having a final leaving party to say goodbye to our friends and customers, however we arenât planning on leaving the village of Austwick so the locals will still see us around, hopefully looking a lot more relaxed. We will be taking a bit of time out for us before moving on to our next adventures somewhere near you.
This is not goodbye, this is just Bonjour!
