Why should Sri Lanka be on my travel list?
Sri Lanka offers something for everyone—luxury resorts, boutique stays, and family-friendly options. As a solo traveller, I felt completely at ease exploring this diverse destination. 🗺️
What are the must-visit spots?
The Cultural Triangle is a great starting point. I visited a traditional village in Sigiriya and climbed 300 steps to Dambulla Cave Temples. If you're tackling Sigiriya Lion Rock, set off at 5 AM to beat the heat. 📍
Where should I go on safari?
Minneriya is ideal for elephant sightings, while Udawalawe is great for too. If you want to avoid Yala’s long queues, Wilpattu offers a quieter alternative with incredible wildlife and leopard spotting. 🐆
What foodie experiences should I try?
Kandy is a dream for food lovers! I enjoyed Egg Hoppers, Kotthu, and the vibrant street food scene. Don't miss the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic while you're there. 🥘
What about Sri Lanka’s beaches?
Tangalle and Mirissa are fantastic for whale watching, Kosgoda is home to turtle conservation, and Bentota offers beautiful beachfront relaxation. 🌴
Is Colombo worth visiting?
Absolutely! Colombo was an unexpected highlight with its stunning temples and street food. A tuk-tuk tour is a great way to explore the city. 🤩
Any travel tips?
I recommend half-board stays as many hotels are remote, and "Elephant Corridors" limit evening walks. I travelled with Jetwing Travels, which allowed me to tailor my experience. ✈️
