We’ve had a great Sunday at the 2cvgb registers weekend. Boffy chilled with so many friends but got a little cocky as he kept asking “Been to the south of France lately?”.

Thanks to all organisers.

So we made it back to Leek in time for lunch, having completed 1,937 miles.
Boffy’s been great; a stuck throttle cable and a disconnected fuel pipe, otherwise a faultless performance throughout.
When we left on 24th April we had a ford galaxy support car, Mandy was a year younger, Man City had never won the champions league, we thought Phil and Holly were friends and the economy was in a mess. Well, some things have changed.
We’ve learnt that it can be very hot and quite loud in a 2cv.
We’ve experienced some of the very best of France and shared it with family and friends. We’ve benefited from 2 great support crews.
Boffy has been back to his roots and enjoyed the best welcome from 2 CV Club de l'Uzège.
The spare brake pipe that Kevin insisted that I have made the whole trip with us. We’d have so loved Kev to have done it all with us. He would have absolutely loved it too.
And now the grand voyage is done.
What a journey.
What a car 😀

A nice gentle start to the day at Camping les petites Minaudières . A quick swim for the kids then we continued north to have lunch by the Loire in Tours. We swung by Le Mans, but the circuit and museum are closed preparing for the centenary. Then up to Caen, the D-Day memorials and we are now on the ferry to Portsmouth. Well done again Boffy. 1 day to go…

This morning at the hotel du chateau on the plateau above Rocamadour, 4 hot air balloons decided they would like an aerial view of our hero. Then Boffy rested whilst we dropped into the village on the amazing lifts built into the rock for breakfast in the medieval village. Later, we sped north north through countryside which became flatter and the agriculture switched to sunflowers and cereal crops. This evening we’re enjoying great hospitality with the lovely people at Camping les petites Minaudières . More adventures tomorrow en route to Caen and the overnight ferry.

We’ve made it to ROCAMADOUR in the beautiful Dordogne. One precarious detour up a steep single track lane, with a vertical drop and a huge motor home coming down. It was 38.2 degrees in Boffy this afternoon - the ventilation systems were fully tested. We’re catching the lift down through rock into the village in the morning then continuing north after a late breakfast.

Spectacular!

Our last full day in l’Uzège. We’ve been to St Quenten la Poterie, accompanied by Andrew Carter and Jeanette. On the way back, Boffy and I were feeling very “Provençal” as we past a field of lavender. The engine oil level has been checked (still full) so we are all set to begin the return journey to Leek, tomorrow.

Quick trip to the car wash to clean off the Saharan dust that has accumulated in the last few weeks. For some unknown reason water always gets inside Boffy when I use the jetwash 😀

On Saturday Boffy made a final trip to Uzès market and is now preparing for the voyage back to Leek starting on Saturday 8th. Kirsty, Caleb and Indi are flying in to Carcassonne on Wednesday and will be part of the adventure.

We’re back over in the Uzège and it is time to wake Boffy from his slumbers. Sadly, he wasn’t keen on starting. Plenty of battery so a fuel problem was suspected and quite quickly detected. The fuel pipe had become disconnected where it rises up at the front of the chassis. A quick call to Jonathon at Peak 2cv and a temporary fix using some garden irrigation pipe then we’re back up and running. Parts for a proper fix on order and then the next phase of the adventure will commence.

So, Boffy is now in the middle of a month of rest with a friend in Saint Hippolyte de Montaigu. Then it’s more adventures in l’Uzège before the big return trip north in July.

We have arrived. A beautiful drive averaging 35mph. We reached 1115m and Boffy ate up the ascents with ease. Stunning scenery in L’Occitane ❤️ We parked the Ford by the cemetery. Boffy has pride of place in the village

The advantage of the 2CV Special is that you can open the roof. The disadvantage is that wasp stings at 40 mph tend to temporarily divert the drivers attention

NEWSFLASH - At this morning’s drivers briefing, it has been decided to aim straight for Le-Pin , missing out the bridge detour. Our 1983 2CV is performing perfectly. Unfortunately our 2010 Ford is complaining regularly by lighting up warning lights. Boffy’s only warning light hasn’t even flickered. Boffy is now proudly lead car and support vehicle as he bravely supports the “modern evolution” of the automobile across the finish line. Vive Boffy l’hero!!

We’re really looking forward to todays ascents and descents in this beautiful part of France. We’re going to take a slight detour to cross the Millau Bridge, before showing Boffy his French home in Le-Pin. Thanks for following us

We have arrived in Le-Puy-en-Velay. 195 miles with a top speed of 70mph and an overall average moving speed of 38.7. mph.Boffy behaved perfectly (10/10 again), and is obviously enjoying the adventure - doingvery well on the steep climbs and tight corners. AND we easily managed some overtaking. 2 wrong turns before getting to the outskirts of Puy, 5 or 6 by the time we arrived at the hotel 😀. Disagreements: 0. Number of times now we have had to stop to fix the 2010 support vehicle: 2!
