We’re thrilled to welcome Lee Clarkson as the new head chef here at The Blue Lion! With an impressive background, Lee has worked in some of the UK’s finest restaurants, including Rogan & Co, Gilpin Lodge, Mana, and Chewton Glen. His passion for locally sourced ingredients and culinary excellence will bring exciting new flavours to our menus.

Don't forget to tune in this Friday evening to see our railway featured on BBC’s ‘Great British Railway Journeys’ tv series! The episode will air on Friday 5th April 2024 on BBC2 at 6.30pm.

Michael Portillo and his film crew visited us last June to produce this Friday's episode. He was welcomed by Connor, our Community Engagement Officer, and volunteers from our Living History Interpreters team. They chatted to Michael about our Heritage programme and the fantastic work that we do to bring local history to life.

This is good news!

Back by popular demand.
We’re thrilled to announce the reopening of our tearooms on 2nd of May! The past few years have been quite a journey, one that we’re still navigating.

As May marks the 30th anniversary since our family first opened the doors, it feels fitting for us to start anew.
We’re dedicated to maintaining our standards of home baking and a warm atmosphere. Our tentative opening days will be Thursday through Sunday. We are now starting to look for staff.
