A busy but amazing weekend both at Tunes in the Dunes Festival and also providing an Explosive Detection dog sweeps for an existing client. All carried out in the beautiful West Country. While we continue supporting clients nationally for both detection and general purpose security dog services, it's always nice to be able to do what we do closer to home! Thanks to the teams involved this weekend. Amazing as always 😁😁

Bit of down time with the dogs after a busy week. Plymouth Hoe in the sunshine.

Butch and Teddy living their best lives.

Butch came to us reactive towards other male dogs. With time, training and patience he can now run off lead in public spaces and he has grown in confidence around other dogs. He can still spot a tennis ball from half a mile away but his recall is excellent.

An amazing two weeks so far with these guys on their bed bug handlers course. A variety of venues have been used culminating in todays tasking, to search all of the public areas and every available guest room of a five storey hotel, including multiple stairwells, lounge, ballroom, individual rooms and corridors. Working in tandom the handlers had to plan the search, break searches down into specific areas, managing their dogs time on search, plus their own rest periods. Three and a half hours in total. An excellent effort from the teams. We'll done all.

This is what makes this job the best possible career choice. Imparting knowledge and operational experience gained over far too many years. Seeing the end results after so much hard work from the handlers and their individual dogs. Seeing handlers having to adapt handling styles, watching their own dogs develop in the process, allowing their dogs the freedom to express themselves, coming away at the end tired but content. Dedication from the teams is evident to see.

Hi everyone, I'm having a working holiday in the West Country because my dad has said I can become a bed bug detection dog. So I'm staying with the guys at Specialist Detection Dogs UK so they can teach me the basics. I'm only little though so I do get tired quite easily. Luckily, quick runs and doggy ice cream on Plymouth Hoe help me to wake up. Wish me luck on my big big adventure 😀😀

Well it's been a busy week. Completed the team up of a client and her bed bug dog who will now be on an aircraft back to Sweden! Great couple of days spent with these guys and potentially a trip over there in the making to deliver some training. The last three evenings spent deployed with the passive drug teams in Exeter and Newquay. Today, we are on the road to the Midlands to deliver some training.

For those that believe Working dogs can't be pet dogs also. How wrong can you be? When a dog is trained with love, care, dedication and using only positive training methods anything is possible. Ruby, pictured here had the worse start in life as a puppy, She had every right to be fearful of humans. She loves nothing more than interacting with children, laying all over them and playing fetch with them. A great week so far with both dogs working extremely well. Search criteria upped already given the progress made. Multiple room searches, corridors and stairwells. Tomorrow will be buses and a bit of a curveball.

Its been a nice relaxed week, working with the two bed bug dogs. Boths individual characters have shone through over the last few weeks. Minnie, who came to us through a rescue charity has developed amazingly since being given a job to do. She's like a duracell bunny at times, non stop drive to search. Bugsy is equally nuts, very playful but loves nothing more than squashing up on the sofa at the end of the day.

Day one of a new Bed Bug course tomorrow. Looking forward to teaching this one. We will be holding bed bug courses in March and April so register your interest with us if you'd like to join one of the courses.

Finally, working and training in Plymouth is amazing. We are the only company doing what we do in this part of the world and to be able to do it in this beautiful city is the icing on the cake.
