Wake up Wirral Borough Council a “Living Museum” which could surpass Beamish in the North East is staring you in the face. Connect Woodside, Hamilton Square, Port Sunlight using heritage trams and buses from the Birkenhead Transport Museum - run a track along the prom to New Brighton & find some way to berth the new Ferry at New Brighton / weld the U-boat back together - you’ve got cammel laird next door and let people go inside it - that U-boat as it is, is SH… t / if you can’t weld it back together then scrap it

And good news for the U-Boat Story in Birkenhead after Wirral Council approved plans to refurbish the museum (https://substack.com/redirect/8cf95fdc-f225-41a7-b8eb-e4d0e1d6c430?j=eyJ1IjoiMXB4MWIxIn0.ge9RaHHTQ9izfimFN2FmqbhvH6yLKPefm3fc3kTxm1g). The renovation is being funded in part by a £19 million levelling-up grant from the government, and will include a new green space for the town, improvements to the Woodside ferry termi
nal and the creation of a new attraction based on the Battle of the Atlantic. Works on the U-Boat museum are set to begin this summer.

Honestly I know I’ve had a book published but it’s an honest guide book reflecting how and why our city has changed. It never ceases to amaze me how many other people in the “Beatles” industry who after so many years have caught “Beatleitis” & gradually deluded themselves to the point where they initially talk about when friends or relatives saw the Beatles, to how they actually saw them themselves, then the story changes to how that met all the Beatles, next it’s how they wrote a poem which John Lennon used to create a song, in the worst cases of Beatleitis the person actually believes they were in the Beatles itself! The junk out there is ridiculous and at least I can hold my head up high and I’ve remained true to the story. After learning from the owner of the Cavern Club a few years that as new guides we must avoid Beatles “bull” I hope I’ve done that and simply focussed on keeping things in context in Liverpool. There are many people particularly USA guests who I’ve showed around our city, who know far more about the Beatles lyrics, music and all those other things you can read in a book, but those fab4 (5 as we must never overlook or underestimate Pete Best) have united us in Liverpool and it’s been another truly magical season in 2023 & I can’t wait to show more people around next year. Happy Christmas everyone x
