Florida 2024 Day 3 Part 2
Knowing we would only be in Fort Lauderdale for one night, we made sure to book a sea view and were not disappointed with the Hilton Maren right on the beach.
We ate lunch watching the world go by on the iconic ocean road and staring out to sea. It felt like we had been dropped into a movie set all the while chatting to fun and friendly hotel staff and eating glorious food.
The afternoon was spent sampling the pool (and the pool bar!), which wasn't too much of a hassle.. We decided to forgo the beach as we knew we had some rather spectacular beach opportunities in the coming days, and after a long mess around in the water, we headed back to the room for a refresh.

Florida 2024 Day 3 Part 1
We were up bright and early and back to MCO for our first ride on the Brightline. Rail travel is unusal in the US and this high speed line is relatively new but provides a great connection from Orlando to Miami.
We were only going as far as Fort Lauderdale, but were extremely impressed with the journey. The stations were bright and airy, with polished floors and easy to follow signage. The train itself was perfectly on time and extremely comfortable. The four of us sat at a table with plenty of room, plugs for phones, wifi, and a reclining chair. With space for our small cases both above our heads and under our seats plus a snack cart, we relaxed and watched the state of Florida flash by.
Downsides? The day dreamer in me had expected glorious scenery instead of the suburban outlook, but this was my own flawed expectation and not a fault with Brightline.
We will absolutely be using this service again and wish UK rail travel was as smooth and comfortable!

Florida 2024 Day 2 Part 1
Today was officially a work day for me but I didn't get the memo because it was so much fun!
I was up and dressed early and waiting in the foyer for my lovely friend Fiona Hargreaves. A brief natter and then we jumped in the taxi with three other lovely InteleTravel agents. I'd been chatting to two of them throughout the year so to get to meet in person was brilliant.
I was jumping into the final day of conference at the World Center Marriott and was I in for a shock. I think the conference centre was as big as my town and the sheer volume of people....! Absolutely staggering. I spent most of the day in awe.
Lunch was at the pool bar and obviously involved a cocktail; I loved just sitting and listening to everyone and finding my feet amongst a social group again.
The kids and Paul spent the day in the pool and wandered to Disney Springs for lunch. I'd like to say they spent the day waiting for me to come home but it wouldn't be true... they just had too much fun being in the water and enjoying the big yellow thing in the sky!
Florida 2024 Travel Day Part 2
We arrived at Hilton Lake Buena Vista Palace to a great room (we were upgraded so the kids had their own bed!) and rushed to the pool and on-site lazy river.
We managed an hour before the rain came, and in true Orlando style, we sheltered in the pool bar! We had left the UK that morning during a power cut and heavy rain and bookended the day with the drama of a Floridian rain storm. I simply never get tired of warm rain.
I also got to meet my dear friend @orland0dreaming face-to-face for the first time, but left her to paddle through Disney Springs while we nursed our cocktails in the pool bar.
Travel days are exhausting but so very special.
