Today in 1964, was both the UK single and album release of the Beatles' "A Hard Day’s Night". It was the band's third studio album, with side one containing songs from the soundtrack to their film of the same name.

The film "A Hard Day's Night", which was the Beatles' first feature film had its premiere a few days earlier on 6 July 1964. The film portrays several days in the lives of the group.during the height of Beatlemania.

Today, Prince Louis, the third child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the fifth in line to the British throne, will be christened at St. James’s Palace’s Chapel Royal

The Chapel Royal has been the setting for many significant historical Royal events. The Chapel has a poignant tie to Louis's late grandmother, Princess Diana. In 1997, after her tragic death, Princess Diana's body lay in the Chapel, next to the altar, prior to be moved to Kensington Palace the day before her funeral.

Today in 2000, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" the fourth book in the Harry Potter series by J K Rowling, was simultaneously released both in the USA and the UK. It was the first Harry Potter book to be released in the USA and UK on the same day. This book is seen by many fans as the beginning of darker times in the Wizarding World, as it shows the return of Lord Voldemort

A film version of this book was released in November 2005.

Today in 1930, British writer Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle died. Conan Doyle is best known for his detective fiction featuring the character Sherlock Holmes. The Sherlock Holmes stories are generally considered milestones in the field of crime fiction.

Today in 1893, a copy of the book "Oliver Twist" was presented to George V and Queen Mary when they were Duke and Duchess of York, by the people of the Isle of Wight on the occasion of their wedding. The wedding took place today in 1893 at the Chapel Royal, St. James's Palace in London.

'Oliver Twist' by Charles Dickens was originally published in monthly instalments in "Bentley’s Miscellany" from February 1837 to April 1839. Sales of the 'Miscellany' rocketed: after the first instalment and Dickens’ popularity reached new heights with its success.

Today in 2015, HRH Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge was christened in Sandringham, at the same church where Princess Diana was christened in August 1961. The middle names of little girl, who was born on 2 May 2015, were chosen in honour of Charlotte's great-grandmother the Queen, and her late grandmother Princess Diana.

Although Diana died in 1997, Prince William has revealed that he keeps his mother’s memory alive for his young children by “constantly talking about Granny Diana”.

Today in 2009, The Beatles’ former manager Allen Klein died in New York City, aged 77. After, Brian Epstein, The Beatles' first manager died, John Lennon brought in Klein to sort out the financial matters of the Beatles' Apple Corporation, which had got out of control. Although opposed by Paul McCartney, Klein became the Beatles' business manager.

Today in 1951, Gary Charles Kray was born. He was the only son of gangster Charlie Kray was the nephew of twins Reggie and Ronnie. Gary, the only child to be born to any of the three Kray brothers, died in 1996 aged 44. He is buried in the same grave as Reggie's widow, Frances Shea in Chingford Mount Cemetery.

Today in 1998, the fantasy novel "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" by J K Rowling was published. It was the second book in the Harry Potter series.

A film based on the book, directed by Chris Columbus and distributed by Warner Bros, was made in 2002 The film, which a sequel to the 2001 film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and the second instalment in the Harry Potter film series, stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.

Born today in 1961, was Diana Frances Spencer. In 1981, Diana married Prince Charles and became known as Diana, Princess of Wales. During their marriage, the couple had two children, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.

When Diana was tragically killed in a car crash in 1997, aged only 36, there was a massive public outpouring of grief. Diana will never be forgotten and her memory is kept alive by her family and by her many fans throughout the world.

Born today in 1963 is English film, television, and theatre actor.r, Rupert Graves. One of the many roles Rupert Graves is known for is as DI Lestrade in 14 episodes of the crime drama TV series "Sherlock" from 2010 to 2017 with Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. Watson.

Today in 2014, English music entrepreneur and manager of The Beatles, Brian Epstein, was honoured with a blue plaque in London.

The plaque was placed outside Sutherland House, on Argyll Street, next to the London Palladium. From 1964 to his death in 1967 Epstein ran his NEMS Enterprise management company from offices in the building.

It was reported in the press this week that when the Queen passes away, Kate Middleton, who is currently known as the Duchess of Cambridge, could get a new title.

When the Queen dies, Prince Charles will become King of England (he is next in line to the throne as the Queen's eldest child) and Prince William will be given his father's former title as Prince of Wales. This means that Kate will become Princess of Wales, just like William's mother, Diana. Thus, Kate Middleton could be the first person to hold the title since Diana.

Despite Charles currently being Prince of Wales, his wife Camilla chose not to use the title Princess of Wales - instead she is known as the Duchess of Cornwall - due to the association it has with Diana.

Today in 1996, Charlie Kray, elder brother of the notorious Kray twins, fell for a police "sting" when he struck a deal to supply a large amount of co***ne to undercover officers for up to two years. The proposed deal had, however, been secretly taped, and Charlie Kray was arrested. The following year, he was sent to jail for 12 years for masterminding a £39 m co***ne plot

In l969, Charlie had been convicted of being an accessory to the murder of Jack "The Hat" McVitie. His brother, Reggie, was found guilty of the murder.
