I went to an inspiring visit to the Acosta Dance Centre in Woolwich yesterday, courtesy of the London Ballet Circle. Having seen a passionate rehearsal of Carmen, I can't wait to see the full production at Sadler's Wells in July. Tickets are selling fast.

The Centre also does wonderful work with the local community and schools offering dance classes in a variety of styles. They are raising money through the Big Give at the moment so every donation is doubled.

The brilliant production of Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice which sets the play in 1936 with the rise of British Fascists is coming to the West End from 15th February for a limited run. I saw this at the atmospheric Wilton's Music Hall in the heart of the area where this production is set, however it deserves to be seen by more people. A very timely production.
