We were just discussing this whilst I was on my India trip. I dont think Travel is something that can be left on AI. In 2012 when I was thinking of starting my own business, a few people pointed out that Online platforms are available and your business would never work and I used to say that I know I will lose some clients to Online companies, but, they will not be able to take away my real business as I have that human touch to every itinerary. And today after 11 years I have not looked back. Yes I have lost some clients to online due to prices or may be a small mistake I may have made, but most of my clients are looking for best service, they are looking for that one responsible person who they can talk to if any problems arise unlike these online companies.

On this trip I had an American friend explaining me how he finds ChatGPT so useful, and my answer was same, it does not have that human touch. Even with AI advances, they are not safe and they are not 100 percent. They will sell you want they want whilst we are here to fullfil your needs. No AI and no Internet can match the service we as an independent travel agents can provide.

Warning over data quality and energy use from tools such as ChatGPT

Emirates Digital Boarding passes

Taking a step forward in its drive to offer customers the convenience and assurance of digitally enabled travel journeys, Emirates will require most passengers departing Dubai to use a mobile boarding pass instead of a printed paper version, from 15 May onwards.

Passengers checking in at Terminal 3 will receive their mobile boarding pass via email or SMS. Passengers who check in online can load their boarding pass into their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, or retrieve their boarding pass on the user-friendly Emirates App. The checked-in baggage receipt is also emailed directly to passengers or available in the Emirates App.

This initiative will significantly reduce paper waste while simultaneously offering a convenient and speedy digitised check in experience for passengers departing Dubai. It reduces the risk of lost or misplaced boarding passes, giving passengers peace of mind when travelling.

The mobile boarding pass can be used throughout the travel journey – in Dubai Duty Free, at security and for boarding, simply by showing the boarding pass on the phone. Emirates agents and airport staff will simply scan the QR code on the mobile boarding pass as passengers move through the airport and onto the aircraft.

Some passengers may still require a physical boarding pass to be printed – for instance when travelling with infants, unaccompanied minors, passengers requiring special assistance, passengers with onwards flights on other airlines, and all passengers travelling on flights to the US.

The option to print a boarding pass is available by request to Emirates agents at check-in counters, if passengers do not have a mobile device, or if they are unable to access the information on their devices for reasons such as: running out of battery power, a system breakdown or glitch, message delivery delay, or inability to access WIFI, network or a data package.

Smooth biometric journeys in Dubai

Registered passengers can now enjoy a seamless travel experience at Dubai International Airport, where they will be able to use the biometric machines or smart gates to go through various airport stations.

GCC nationals or visitors eligible for visa on arrival can pass through the Smart Gates with a biometric passport.

Connecting with your customers

We’re living in the most connected time in history. A recent study shared that we now spend more time on our phone and laptop than sleeping. This means that when you do have your customer’s attention offline, it’s more important than ever to make a strong personal connection.

When I first started my company, it was easy to personally meet all customers to ensure they understood our core values and commitment to providing excellent service.

I have truly learned the good, the bad and the ugly. I’m excited to share my tips to help turn your business that build strong connections with potential customers.

Use your own service. You may have heard that the founder and CEO of Uber, Travis Kalanick continues to drive for the service to this day (and has a perfect five-star rating) or the founder and CEO of Airbnb, Brian Chesky staying exclusively on Airbnb for over two years. Similarly, I have a ritual myself.

This enables me to understand the pain points or feedback and act on it as fast as I can. Moreover, this motivates our suppliers to provide better service as well. A big win-win. This in person connection and conversation represents the importance of not only having the pulse on how your customers are experiencing the product, but helps in connecting with them without a filter. This results in first hand feedback that might get lost through the long chain of organisational hierarchy.

Be a micro-entrepreneur and break away from that nine to five mentality.

It only takes seven seconds to make a first impression, so it’s truly more important than ever to embrace in-person connections. And yes, it’s great for business, and it’s also incredibly beneficial for you and your health! Connecting face to face, can lead to building strong personal relationships which has been linked to being happier, feeling healthier and living longer. A study shared by Harvard Medical school examined data from more than 300,000 people and found that a lack of strong relationships had an effect that was comparable to smoking up to 15 ci******es a day!

So whether you’re running a business or working for a company, treat each interaction with someone as an opportunity to build your personal relationships.

Families and friends are often a huge source of support for businesses, but how do you deal with family members who don’t support your business aspirations?

You just have to believe in yourself

Whenever I have an idea, I bring it to my family first. It always helps to run your plans past the people who care about you the most, since they will be honest with you, and they have your best interests at heart.

You know that they will be there for you whether you need a high-five after closing your first deal or a shoulder to cry on after your first failure. But the fact that they are always in your corner doesn’t mean that they won’t have some reservations about you becoming a business owner.

It's important to not be insulted if family members are unsupportive. Reframe the situation. In order to convince potential investors of your company’s worth you need a strong, clear pitch – and that’s how you’ll change your family members’ minds as well.

Don’t rely on emotional ties when you pitch your idea to your family, recommending reviewing your business case methodically with them and sharing your vision for the company instead. Use your relatives’ input to find flaws in your plan and improve the concept. Take in every useful piece of advice that they can offer, think through their objections carefully, and be patient and understanding when crafting your responses.

Even if they’re still doubtful, you have to ask yourself if you have faith in your vision, idea and yourself. If you do, then I have one piece of advice: Screw it, just do it.

Your family will likely come to respect you for standing by your idea – and in the end they’ll support you.

By the time I was a teenager, my hard working attitude had taken root. I was very fortunate that my mother had instilled hard workiing spirit in me.

Final piece of advice is to not be fooled by the myth of the lone genius. It’s truly rare that anyone achieves anything completely alone. Keep in mind that those people don’t necessarily have to be members of your immediate family.

Create your own network of family and friends and colleagues, and your business is much more likely to succeed.

Satisfied customer is the best source of advertisement

Ram International Travel provides excellent, efficient and attentive service. We recently used them to book a holiday to Abu Dhabi. They carefully listened to our needs and helped guide us to the hotel most suited to our requirements and were able to provide more competitive rates than alternative operators (internet and travel agent based services) out there. They also helped guide us through the Covid requirements, which was extremely helpful and kept us up to speed with any changes. We would highly recommend their services!

Thanks

Remember, remember the 26 November… OK, I know the rhyme of that poem is usually saved for 5th November, but it feels like fireworks have been going off since that other date.

As word started spreading about the new Omicron variant, some clients have told me of requests for cancellations; others said not so much. Yet. For all though, it’s a case of a general slump in confidence, which can be a tough course to correct.

One small announcement did offer some glimmer of normality this week however: the trusty red trains of the Gatwick Express will be back on the tracks this month, for the first time since March 2020.

I hope more of the industry can also get back on track – and get back to what it does best, creating holidays with real sparks for those who need them the most!

Feedback from first customer back from Honeymoon in Mauritius post Covid-19

Very impressed with the service offered by Kaushal at Ram Travel from start to finish. We were lucky enough to have had the opportunity to travel for the first time since the start of the pandemic. Kaushal was very prompt at replying to any issues or queries we raised and helped us in arranging a trip to Mauritius. He found us a great package with a wonderful hotel and also arranged the hotel to airport transfers, which took a lot of the pressure off us. Another impressive aspect was that he informed us of the covid-19 test requirements, which have recently been changing frequently, therefore we were able to do what was needed in order for the trip to go by smoothly. I would certainly recommend this friendly and efficient company to those looking for holidays in the future.

Kind regards,

Sanjay Sood

We have secured more suppliers to get better deals and are working on lowering our credit card fees so customers can pay by credit cards soon. We also have our ATOL licence approved.

Hope we can be at your service soon...
