The next Candles on the Cobb will be Sun 24th August 2025, but on Thursday 8th Aug at 9pm Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival are holding Candles Down the River where you can sponsor a candle in memory of a loved one. Get a candle online at lymeregiscarnival.co.uk/candlesdowntheriver, from the purple carnival kiosk on the seafront or on the night from the start point at 8.15pm
This very special and moving event has captured the imagination of the many who have witnessed it over the past few years. Watch as candles drift gently down the River Lim in small boats as the light fades over Lyme Regis.
If you're unable to attend, you can still get a candle as photos and video will be uploaded to Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival social media and various other places online.
With each candle purchased you can add a message which will be placed in a “boat” with your candle.
Candles are released at 9pm from Jericho Bridge and are removed from the river at Jordan Flats.
There is a large net across the river at the finish point and volunteers in the water to collect all the candle boats after the event.
All proceeds to local good causes.
