Happy birthday to Pheasant's Roost!
5 years ago on the late August Bank holiday weekend we welcomed our first guests. We've loved meeting you and we hope you've had many happy times staying with us. Marriage proposals, anniversaries, mini moons and special birthdays have been celebrated in our little shepherd's hut. Some of our earliest guests who came on their first holiday together are returning to our holiday cottage Rose Cottage next May for their mini moon. Long may our cabin be a place where happy memories are made 🥰

Back in 2003 when Jim and I first moved to North Yorkshire, we had a vision to convert the stable building into holiday accommodation. Jim is a carpenter joiner 🔨 by trade with extensive building experience, so we did all the work ourselves. In 2009 we opened Rose Cottage and have welcomed guests every since and will continue to do so. After 6 years of Jim being a chartered site manager, building new homes, we have decided to begin a new adventure together which is 🏠

A deep blue sky and a light fall of snow made Pheasant's Roost Shepherd's Hut look pretty yesterday here in the Yorkshire sunshine, but it was cold!
We are currently closed, but will reopen for the weekend of 9th Feb, and bookings are coming in quite fast. If you do want to book, please remember to as you will save a lot of money! Our en-suite shepherd's hut sleeps 2,and 2 dogs are welcome.

If you would prefer to make several smaller instalments ahead of your stay just pop us a message with your booking reference and let us know how much you want to pay, then we can send you a payment link. Back in August 2019 we took delivery of our shepherd's hut from Hampshire Down Huts and we opened in time for the late August Bank Holiday weekend. We often recommend Hunmanby Gap as a great place to visit. The beach is vast, and you can escape the crowds. If you prefer your coast without the amusements and novelty shops then take a look at this spot. Dogs are welcome all year round, there's a cliff-top shop and cafe with a spacious decking area outside looking out onto Filey Bay, and parking is available for £1 an hour at the top of the hill. Don't forget to take some change for the car park, and check the tide times (and the weather forecast!) before you set off. It's a truly stunning spot.

In 2009 when we started our holiday accommodation we kept on top of the mowing and regularly trimmed back the hedges. Now in 2023, the Parish Council have allowed the verges to grow, we leave a large part of our paddock unmown and don't strim outside our property. The result is a mass of wild flowers, a rich habitat for wildlife and a beautiful dawn chorus.

We love dogs! Up to 2 are welcome at both Rose Cottage and Pheasant's Roost. We didn't want to fence off the area around our shepherd's hut and lose the feeling of open space so we've opted for a portable fence which suits most dogs.

Ps: we don't charge for dogs, we can supply dog towels and throws for the furniture, and we even have a little warm shower to rinse your pet off when they've been rolling 💩

We opened Pheasant’s Roost in August 2019 and it’s been very popular. Our self-contained shepherds hut has amazing farmland views and really is a luxurious glamping experience. This small space is perfected formed and offers en-suite facilities including a powerful shower, wc and hand basin as well as a fridge, cooking hob and microwave.
