I’m the first to admit that I don’t do many changeovers in our holiday homes - but when I do it’s always a bit of a shot I’m the arm to remind ourselves how far we’ve come in the last five years. It was all I could do not to stay over myself tonight but I guess our guests have other plans!

Loved doing The Croft and Ty Bunc today and fabulous to see Thomastown Park so busy- reminded me of what it was like I’m the 70s!

This weekend we had the pleasure of hosting Anne Marie & Donald who travelled all the way from Fort William for a few days stay at Floras Cabin.

What makes this so special is that Anne Marie & Donald bid on this break that The Pencerrig Collection donated to a very special charity The John Hartson Foundation..

Anne Marie told us “ It’s excellent to be able to support the John Hartson Foundation. The more we raise awareness of this dreadful disease that affects too many life’s. Thanks to the generosity of the sponsors The Pencerrig Collection.”

Then, quite remarkably yesterday morning we bumped into the big man himself in Bristol Airport! Made our day.

We headed to Talybont for a walk with our dog this morning as the weather was so stupendous (not complaining please don’t leave!), blew me away. I haven’t walked The Glyn since I was a little girl just used it as a through road to Brecon or Abergavenny 🫢.

After a stunning stroll around the waterfalls and streams we called back to The Old Barn tearoom where we always have such a warm welcome from old friends - delicious as always 🥪🥤🐾 and of course Murray came too!

Born and bred in Merthyr Tydfil it is possible to become blind to the beauty that surrounds us. I’m on a mission to reopen my eyes!

If you haven’t been, Lower Blaen Y Glyn Waterfall Park is just 5 miles from Pontsticill, passing The Old Barn Tea Room there and back if needed!!

Working hard on our “Pet Friendly” award to compliment our 5⭐️ with Visit Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

As of today, Pencerrig Isaf, Floras Cabin and Ein Trysor Cudd will be equipped with dog bowls, p**p bags and holder, torch and a dog parking station 🐾 and a little treat for your pooch from us 😋.

We know that sometimes packing for a short break is stressful and things get forgotten, so we’ve stocked up on some pet blankets, towels, toys and spare leads which will be available to our guests upon request at cost price.

We can also now offer one very basic dogwash kit of a hose, shampoo and towel - which you may need of your pooch is anything like ours!

We’ve also included some suggestions of local dog friendly pubs and attractions, Vets (hopefully not needed!) and local corporate and independent stores should you need to pick anything additional up upon arrival.

If you are reading this and would like us to ensure your preferred food packs are delivered here to save you lugging them along, just drop us a message and we’ll be happy to help!

I love all the seasons but Spring is fast becoming my favourite!

After all this rain how glorious to spend the day today in some of my favourite spots in The Collection homes “making content” and basically eating and drinking tasty things whilst enjoying the views and my favourite sound of Brecon Mountain Railway 🚂..

So, breakfast at Pencerrig Isaf, followed by a quick dip and glass of sparkles at Floras. Tea and a pastry enroute through Floras and back to Isaf where we’d been exploring what other than pizzas can be cooked in a pizza oven! 🍕 Quite a lot apparently!

It’s a rare opportunity to spend quality time in these beautiful places, I wonder which one you’d prefer?

Off to the local for pub quiz with the bandits to relax 🫢😅.

Ty Bunc is our funky studio based in a quiet residential area of Merthyr Tydfil.

What’s unique at Ty Bunc is it’s high spec, secure bike storage, equipped with wash down equipment and basic repair tools. With an additional shower room to take away any concerns of messing the studio after a day spent at what has been a very mucky Bike Park Wales!

The studio can be set either with a king bed or two beds, whichever suits you best.

A large comfortable lounge area with huge 72” screen and a fully equipped kitchen, Ty Bunc is a perfect base to explore the local area.

Situated directly opposite the newly re-equipped Thomastown Park, Ty Bunc is perfect if you are travelling with your four-legged friend. Used daily by local dog walkers, this pretty park is quite literally on your doorstep!

Looking for a bite to eat? Take a short stroll into Merthyr Tydfil Town centre and try out a growing number of new, high quality eateries serving an ever growing offering.

Location, location, location! Based in the pretty village of Pontsticill in The Brecon Beacons National Park, Walkers Cottage offers plentiful, beautiful walks directly from your front doorstep.

Little staff meeting this morning spent doing some market research at the newly opened Haystack in Merthyrs old Howfields bakery..
The place was packed so we had to leave our names and come back 15 mins later when they called us to say our table was ready. - how great to see, well done Merthyr for supporting ❤️..

I was torn between sweet and savoury and oddly on this occasion savoury won out. Two farmhouse breakfast, vegan breakfast and avocado, chilli and feta on sourdough toasts and some really good fresh ground coffee made for a great brunch!

Great service from really friendly staff, food was great, we ate ours while watching what everyone else was getting in preparation for our next visit 🐷🐷🐷🐷!

We will definitely be recommending this place to our friends, family and guests- what a lovely place, we wish you all the luck in the world and you e secured our on-going custom!

Absolutely delighted to be hosting this fabulous brood 😍 and of course their mam! ❤️

We wouldn’t normally expect to take four pooches in a cabin but when they’re as immaculately behaved as these charmers then it becomes our pleasure!

They’ve braved this rubbish weather for a walk through the welsh mountains and have been perfect company for a rainy day, movie day ❤️
