The sun has been shining in Arnside so we thought this would be an ideal time to update the outside furniture for both flats as well as have a spruce up where we can! We’ve got good availability for short breaks throughout the summer, so why not get out your walking boots and head to Arnside for some scenic trekking around the Knott, across the bay or even venture to the mountains of the Lakes. We’ve had a last minute cancellation in our garden flat holiday let in Arnside, so it’s now available from 18-24 August (6 nights) if anyone knows anyone who would like a break in the South Lakes. Sleeps 5, dogs welcome. Happy to offer special rate of £400 for 6 nights, absolute bargain!! 30 mins from Windermere, 45 mins to Coniston etc. Minimum fee is £350 for less nights as have cleaning costs to cover. Great to stumble upon the latest episode of Great Coastal Railways and see that it features Arnside, Levens Hall and Cartmel! Worth watching to find out more about the area, all within a short drive of our two lovely apartments which are just a few minutes away from the Kent Estuary and 7 mins walk from Arnside station, from where you can cross the aqueduct and the bay over to Grange over Sands.

Springtime in Arnside

Sitting alongside the River Kent estuary, Arnside is a quaint village surrounded by beautiful scenery. With walks a-plenty, right from the doorstep, cars are not needed, only if you want to venture further into the Lake District.

Springtime brings the promise of longer days and bright sunshine. Walkers wanting to enjoy the fine scenery around the bay will always have to check the tide times, but stand more chance of extending their walking day with more time and light to enjoy the beach walks. The Arnside Bore is a sight not to be missed, and certainly one to be heard. We have enjoyed the siren at both ends of the day, a morning siren forewarning us that we will soon be retreating to the Knott path, an evening siren we have awaited as we enjoyed a cold beverage or two in The Albion or Fighting C***s, with the sunset across the bay.

It’s always a pleasure to hear and see the lambs in the fields as we pass the farms in the area, but it’s glimpses of deer on the Knott and surrounding woods that I really enjoy. Add to this the Highland Cattle that adorn the high-ground, every outing brings a treat. But the best sight and sounds of all are the birds enjoying the rich-pickings in the shallow water and mud-flats.

Belmont is a lovely base for walkers and anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Arnside is in the South Lakes, 10 minutes from Kendal and 20 minutes from Windermere. Sleeping five people, it’s suitable for a small group of friends or family. Belmont is an upstairs flat, part of a large house. It has it’s own entrance and parking/seating area. It is a new holiday let, having been completely renovated in 2017/18, offering three bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, separate bathroom/shower room and toilet. Decorated to a very high standard with comfort in mind, it’s a lovely place to kick off your walking boots at the end of the day. It’s located just off the promenade, 2 mins walk from the shops, pub and beach.
