A number of initiatives have been undertaken to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact, as follows:-
Double glazed Windows (R8 Windows which are designed for period buildings).
Air source heat pump heating which is much more efficient than oil or gas or traditional electric heating. An added bonus is air cooling in the summer.
LED lighting throughout including LED filament lamps which consume less than 10% of the electricity of standard bulbs.
Induction hob in the kitchen.
A-rated white goods.
Softened water; not only does soft water feel nice to the touch, it requires much less soap or detergent and with no lime scale build up (in what is a very hard water area), the sinks, bath, and shower require less cleaning solutions and the water systems and washing machines last much longer.
A reverse osmosis water purifier provides top quality drinking water and there is no need to purchase bottled water.
The Housekeeping team use environment friently products where possible.
We use compostable coffee capsules where possible.
Single use plastic is minimised with soap and other consumables purchased in bulk and everyday containers refilled.
