Spent a lovely evening on 'Pebble Island' in our beautiful local village of Cenarth 😍
Just a few minutes away from The Birdhouse!
Plenty of parking (free in a few places and a car park that charges a small amount)... local pubs which also serve food, tea rooms, gift shops and a petrol station with convenience shop for all of your essentials!
We love it here and know you will too 🥰

Lovely evening out to another amazing pub/restaurant in St Dogmaels.... this time to The Ferry Inn. 🤩
Lovely welcome, friendly staff and a great menu.... with inside seating and outdoor terrace seating.... and doggy friendly too! 🐶
We chose a beautiful evening to go and after our meal we had a nice walk and looked out across the water 😍

St Dogmaels is a lovely village to visit... there is the ruins of the Abbey, a working mill, a jetty to go crabbing in the season and a really nice farmers market on a Tuesday. We went this week and had a lovely cup of tea in the coffee shop there 😋

Also, you can drive through St Dogmaels and get to a terrific beach called Poppit Sands 😊🏖

It's only about 20/25 minutes drive away from the lodge.... so great for a trip out!

Shame the weather isn't very nice this week... but not ones to be put off, we had a nice drive to Laugharne today, where the very talented Dylan Thomas was born 😊
It took us about 40 minutes to get there from The Birdhouse and when we arrived... it stopped raining! 🌧🌥
So we had a lovely walk around, saw Dylan Thomas's house and stopped off at Arthur's Cafe by the main car park for a lovely scone and cup of coffee ☕
Laugharne Castle has a lovely river walk... and look at that beach 😍 would be perfect on a warm day!

So last night we went to 'The New Celtic Aberaeron' for our dinner. It was our first meal out in what felt like forever and I have to say just how delicious it was 😋
The menu caters for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike and was cooked and presented to a very high standard. Lovely service too!
Followed by a nice evening stroll along the beachfront. And with it being only a 30 minute drive from The Birdhouse, it wasn't too far to go 😊

Whilst we were at Penbryn yesterday... my parents visited 'The Blue Lagoon'! And wow doesn't it look beautiful?! 😍
They went to the beach, had a lovely walk and enjoyed a nice picnic in the sun ☀️

The drive took around an hour to get there from The Birdhouse.... and was so worth it!

"Bordered by beautiful beaches and craggy rocks, the lagoon is brilliant for watersports.
The lagoon is actually a former slate quarry and was active up until 1910, before being abandoned and flooded.
'The Blue Lagoon' was formed when the channel connecting the quarry to the sea was blasted, allowing the sea to flood in 🌊

Its rocky roots have paved the way for all sorts of adventure, including diving and kayaking 🛶
You must take care here though, the water is very deep at the lagoon ⚠️"

You can also go for a walk along the clifftop… you’re guaranteed great views! And take a look at the sheep 🐑 do not try this at home!! 😆

So this Sunday's adventures took us to Penbryn beach... about a 30 minute drive from The Birdhouse 🙂

It was a glorious day... we took a picnic and some games and spent hours there! 🏖

It's a lovely beach, with a good size National Trust car park (£4 all day), a little cafe, toilets and a woodland walk! There's quite a hill to walk down but there is a small road and turning point at the bottom so that you could drop off and pick up anyone who couldn't manage it 👍🏻

It was such a beautiful day yesterday, we thought we'd try out another local walk 🚶‍♂️

This walk runs alongside the local river, with plenty of room to explore, walk and sit and relax. It's around 20 minutes drive from The Birdhouse and the walk can be a round trip of 4 miles if you felt like a bit more of a trek 👍🏻
We took our children, had a stroll and played safely by the shallow parts of the water 🙂

Next time we'll be taking a picnic 🥪🧋

Due to a recent family bereavement, we have unfortunately had to take our sister lodge, The Dovecote, off of the rental market. All of our wonderful guests that were coming to stay this year have been informed. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate the support we have received 🥰

But. On a brighter note! The Birdhouse is still available to rent and is being booked up quickly this year, which is wonderful! 😍 It's nice for people to holiday in this beautiful part of the world and to see the beauty that is on their doorstep 🌼🐑!

As it is a self-contained holiday rental, it follows the Welsh government guidelines for being able to open on the 27th March, which is wonderful news 🤩

The lodge sleeps 5 (1 double room, 1 twin room and 1 single room), has a living, dining and kitchen open plan area and a bathroom with a shower. It also boasts a lovely decked area, with outside furniture to enjoy ☀️

Situated on the outskirts of the pretty little village Cenarth, with the famous Cenarth Falls, the lodge is close to the most gorgeous beaches, coastal walks, local market towns and quaint pubs and restaurants.

Due to the latest lockdown restrictions in Wales, between Friday 23rd October and Monday 9th November, Penlan Holiday Village will be closed.

Hi everyone 🙂 what a beautiful day it is today!

I would like to let our followers know that we are the sister lodge of 'The Dovecote'!

The Dovecote sleeps up to 4 and a baby/toddler, with one bedroom, one bathroom and open plan kitchen, living (with sofa bed) and dining area. It also has a travel cot for your baby/toddler (upon request). It has allocated parking for one car.

Both lodges are next to each other in the same beautiful woodland park in Cenarth, West Wales.

I thought it would be a fab idea to let people know about this so that if a larger family or two families wanted to holiday together, it would be perfect to book both lodges for the same time 🥳

I am pleased to announce that the First Minister has declared that bookings can be made for your summer break in Wales!

Holidays can be booked from the 13th July for self-contained accommodation (accommodation without shared facilities – this is accommodation, which is entirely self-contained with kitchens and bathrooms that no other guests use) exactly what is wonderfully provided in The Birdhouse 😊

Bookings are being made already, so if you're thinking of your relaxing getaway in West Wales, now is the time to book!

Please be assured that The Birdhouse is always deep cleaned to a high standard after every guest leaves and that once it has been cleaned, no one else will enter the property until you arrive.

COVID-19 Update...

Following the guidance set out by Borris Johnson on the 23rd March, Penlan Holiday Park has had to extend their temporary closure dates until 20th April 2020.

It is imperative that we follow these guidelines and ensure that all of our guests are looked after and stay safe.

If you have booked to stay in the lodge before this date, please contact the agent that you booked through and they will discuss alternative arrangements with you.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused at this time but I hope you can understand the reasons behind the decision.

We will continue to update our fb page as soon as we find out more news.

Happy New Year to all of our guests, past and future! We are a bit late in our celebratory posting but we have been very busy preparing the lodge for the upcoming holiday season 🥳

This year the lodge has new management... it's all stayed the same though, any enquiries can still be answered here, the number of our new manager has been updated and a WhatsApp button has been added. Don't worry, he's super friendly! (and he's my brother) 😉

Well it's almost that time of year again.... the school summer holidays! 😀 We're looking forward to seeing all of our guests over the summer.... don't forget to bring your swimming things for the lovely outdoor pool (it was 24° last weekend).... 😎

Here at The Birdhouse we're looking forward to our guests arriving all over the season.... Here is a copy of the menu that is available in the newly refurbished onsite bar/restaurant!
They are open between the hours of 12-4pm and then again between 6-9pm for food 🍽🥂

Hi everyone 😃
So today we would like to show you the beautiful outdoor swimming pool and the children's play area 🏊🏻‍♂️🤸🏾‍♀️
The temperature of the pool is currently 24° and on a day like this, we really could pop our costumes on and jump right in! 😎
Also the children's play area has recently had fresh new bark put down on the floor, really refreshing the look and feel of the area 😃👍🏻
The park is looking great, the restaurant has been recently refurbished and the wonderful chef has a great new menu to offer our lovely guests!
There is plenty to do in the park if you fancy a day of rest and you dont even have to cook 😉
Oh yes! I almost forgot the park has a nice little dog walk too 🐶🐕🐩

Hi again! We enjoyed taking the photos of the outside so much yesterday, we thought we'd give you an update of what the inside looks like in this beautiful sunshine ☀️
The Birdhouse comfortably sleeps 6 people.... we have a double room, a twin room and a bunk bed room. There is also a travel cot and high chair available upon request 👼
We just love the way the sun comes in through the windows all around the lodge.... and there are lots of birds to feed, even a couple of cheeky squirrels! 🐦🐿
The kitchen has plenty of low level storage, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, electric oven/hob and a microwave, with all of the kitchen essentials you'll need for a comfortable stay 👨🏻‍🍳👩🏽‍🍳
We do provide towels but if you're planning on using the swimming pool (and who wouldn't?!) ....don't forget to bring your own towels for the pool 👍🏻
We look forward to meeting all of our guests, safe travelling! 😃

Hi everyone 🙂 what lovely weather we are having! We have taken a few pictures of outside of The Birdhouse to give all of our lovely followers an idea of just how much beautiful, green space there is around our lodge 🌲🌺🌿 The decking is looking gorgeous in this sun, perfect for sitting with a cup of tea or even a cheeky glass of wine!
