May Her Soul Rest In Peace ππ
In the UK, there is what we call LOLER regulation 1998 (Lifting Operation and Lifting Equipment) and PUWER 1998 (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation).
These regulations guide any organisation that uses work and lifting equipments like Elevators, Hoists, Standing Aids, Lifts, etc. Accorsing to the regulation, these equipments must be serviced every 6months to 1year, unfailingly and PAT testing must also be done every 6months. I knew about this regulations long time ago when I was working in Nursing care homes. We were taught LOLER and PUWER during yearly training, so every one knew about the dos and don'ts
Any organisation that fails to follow the regulations will either pay hefty fine, be closed down (if someone dies) or the Directors face prosecution for negligence and manslaughter. With this in mind, about 99% of organisations ensure the regulations are follow to the latter and no violation.
If what happened to that Medical Doctor in Lagos happens in the UK, by now, the hospital board of directors and equipment provider will be in police custody by now.
Until we start to make people face the consequences of their action or inactions in naija, sad events like this may not stop....in Rufai's voice, it will happen again...
May the soul of the innocent Doctor rest in peace, its unfortunate that Nig.eria just happened to her π
