Today is International Mother Earth Day!

At LGSC, we believe in protecting our planet for the future. That’s why we’ve partnered up with TR1BE to help protect rainforests against the growing threats of deforestation.

Tropical deforestation accounts for up to 15% of net global carbon emissions each year – the same as every car, truck, bus, plane, ship and train on the planet. Safeguarding existing rainforests is one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to fight climate change, as every acre safely stores vast quantities of carbon that could otherwise enter the atmosphere as the greenhouse gas CO2. Studies have shown that halting tropical deforestation and allowing for regrowth could mitigate up to 50% of net global carbon emissions in the next 30 years – yet rainforests are still being cut down at a rate of 70,000 acres a day.

At LGSC we're proud to work with the amazing charity Switchback as one of our official charity partners.

Switchback are an amazing rehabilitation charity working with young men in London to support them on their release from prison through a system of mentors. Since 2018 LGSC have worked with Switchback to deliver LGSC trips for their trainees post release. It's a chance for the trainees to get away from the stresses of the city and see life differently, by doing something they have never done before with a totally new group of people. A trainee builds lasting relationships and confidence on the LGSC trips and this sets him up for success in may other areas of his life. - for many trainees it's their first time leaving the city let alone viewing the ocean.

COVID unfortunately mean we were unable to go ahead with our 2020 Switchback trip, among other experiences we had planned but we can't wait to work with them again in 2021.
